just gonna add a little bit of info for all those barbs out there complaining about making up for the lack of magic defense:

Yes, these are the main type of equips we should have for mag def.

However, most go TT90 elemental necklace and Map 4 Elemental Belt for the added vit.

If you have the funding, then go Warsong belt and Cube necklace.

Furthermore, I know some barbs that shard Sapphire Gems into their gear. I wouldn't say to shard all Sapps, but a mix of vit stones and Sapphire Gems.

CoA rings also give you a decent amount of Mdef with refining. Even tho they are a magic ring, they do provide +100 phy att, +7~8 Vit and Dex and 3% crit. I have been using these on my BM for sometime now.

They use to be much harder to come by, but since 4.0/5.0 DD's have come about, as well as double drops they are much more common. Being a BM, I personally prefer these over Lunar rings for the added stats since I do not need the acc from the Lunar. Prehaps a cheap alternative to Lunar for a Barb, as well as Mdef is higher then Lunar once refined to +6.

4th past map is not too shabby... however, for those who haven't followed the chrono quest that far yet, there is also the "Belt of the Holy Spirit" that isn't a bad alternative.

Fuzzy ran around with one for awhile and it served its purpose well.

yuppers.. of course I was personally considering 90 gold Belt and 99 gold neck (which has +2% physical damage reduction bonus to boot).

Lets not forget the level 69(?) Legendary Cape of Tauren Chieftan b:dirty gives a (non refinable) magical defense of 250 all around.

Theres also the Nightfall Pendant OHT belt received at level 80 which gives 100 pdef and is refinable to increase the elemental resists.

I'm currently wearing both of the aforementioned items.

    Neck

    ★Equine Talisman

    Level: 69
    Grade: 9

    Metal Res: 207
    Wood Res: 207
    Water Res: 207
    Fire Res: 207
    Earth Res: 207

    Bonus:
    Phys. Res. +63
    HP +80
    Reduce Physical damage taken +1%

not a really good necklace for a barb imho, reduce p.dmg taken is good when stacked though.
    ★Necklace of the Divine Wind

    Level: 80
    Grade: 10

    Metal Res: 238
    Wood Res: 238
    Water Res: 238
    Fire Res: 238
    Earth Res: 238

    Bonus:
    Phys. Res. +81
    MP +110
    Magic +5~6

This necklace is terrible for any physical classes, this is good for casters. Barbs should never invest in extra MP / magic
    Belt

    Pirate King Seal

    Level: 77
    Grade: 10

    Metal Res: 231
    Wood Res: 231
    Water Res: 231
    Fire Res: 231
    Earth Res: 231

    Bonus:
    MP +150
    Magic +5~6

    Evasion +10%

Again with the MP and magic, but for evasion+10% might be a good add on for a belt. But it looks typically useless since most people don't use evasion. It would be useless for me since I don't invest in evasion as well for my barb or bm.
    ★Belt of Divine Wind

    Level: 80
    Grade: 10

    Metal Res: 238
    Wood Res: 238
    Water Res: 238
    Fire Res: 238
    Earth Res: 238

    Bonus:
    MP +110
    MP Recovery +3
    Magic +4~5

Again with the magic and MP... but the belt is only good for helping with MP recovery, nothing else imho.
    Level: 86 Demon Slaughter Belt
    Grade: 11

    Metal Res: 252
    Wood Res: 252
    Water Res: 252
    Fire Res: 252
    Earth Res: 252

    Bonus:
    Phys. Res. +81
    HP +80
    Vitality +4~5

This is really a good bonus for all classes, especially for barbs, HP, HP recovery and Phys./magic defense multiplier.

Methinks Yulk be missing the point here...

The extra magic or mp bonus from the gear not matter at all. It be the elemental resistance that is the whole idea.

Hence the topic of the thread be "Magic Defence Barb".....

It seems that I am missing the point. Yes, elemental resistance is important as much as physical resistance (even more important imho) . But the add-ons plays a good role too, as a physical class, investing in magic or MP has no use to us whatsoever. Its better to gamble from crafting gears for decent stat elemental ornaments which can also add a part of elemental resistance too which can be much stronger than the molds in that element (1-3) though molds are still superior in most to few boss drops / crafted necklaces.
