Faction Invite Ambush

I'm sure many people who are not in a faction from time to time get those random, out no where faction invites. People just send you invite hoping you will join and they didn't ask if you wanted too. I hate when people do this. I wonder dose it ever work? Does the person you ambush with a faction invite ever say yes? So I made this poll to see what people say.

I hate when I get random invites. It's like "Wtf....Who the hell are you people!!? Why the **** do I care to join!!?" when I see those damn things b:angry0
-
yeah people do it alot i allways had someone try when i was looking for bh squads -_-0
-
If they do that and you acept by accident thinking it was a squad invite you've been needing for hours , then when they are saying welcome and all that BS in faction chat, you then just press G and click on leave .. that will teach em.0
-
I do consider ninja invites to be somewhat rude and they certainly speak ill of a faction... "I wouldn't want to be part of any club that would have me as a member."
Now, i do make sure to thank people who ask me instead of sending invites, especially if we've been through a run or in any situation where i might have done something good to draw their attention.0 -
Factions are like colleges, the good ones require you to apply to them, the bad ones will practically beg you to join.
Last time I was factionless if I got a random invite, and I did many... many times, I would accept, rage at the about the evils of random invites, and then leave.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

And...this is why you spend 100k to make your own lvl 1 faction just to avoid Ninja invites. b:chuckle
I'm "in between" factions right now, while I contemplate applying to one of the large ones. So I used my old faction I made eons ago when I was but a wee nublet to use as a place holder for now.
Though I do get a lot of "can I join" PMs.Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die0 -

I hate when everyone in the whole faction says WELCOME!!! to a new member.

I remember for the longest time not being in a faction, just because I didn't want to join one at the time, and I would get so irritated when I get random ninja invites <_< I believe I have made a really old thread about the same issue and I went off on a small rant XD.
But yeah, there really needs to be a feature which allows a player that choses not to be part of a faction automatically ignore random invites like a filter.
A couple of minor alts of mine remain factionless because I don't play them a lot, whenever I get a random ninja invite I either pm them to stop sending random invites or I say it in common chat if I have already forgotten the name of the player that has sent that invite.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I have been known to ask factionless people to join.
But that's the thing, I sit down, take a deep breath and TALK to the person. And ONLY if the person answers yes do I throw them an invite.
Occationally this is after BH, or while I was flying around for whatever reason... But I never threw an invite before a positive answer from the other person.0 -
It's one button to decline a random invite. What I hate more is when people ask why my Cleric is factionless. I get it at almost every BH. What, someone can't be factionless without explaining why to random people? If I wanted her to join a faction I'd have done so.0

I keep all my alts factionless, because I don't play any of them often enough to be of much benefit to a faction or to derive much benefit from a faction. However, on the rare occasions when someone has actually talked to me about their faction and tried to explain what it has to offer and why I might want to join it, I've actually been tempted to accept an invite for no other reason than positive reinforcement. (Good dog, here's a treat! ;-)0 -
It annoys the hell out of me, to the point that i shelled out the 100k to make a faction specifically for mine and my friend's alts, just so we would be left alone.0

i hate when someone invites u to their fact with just a random invite... with no pm asking or giving more info ... really shows that they care -.-[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

So annoying when you get a constant "why don't you have a faction, u r high level" Because heaven forbid a level 9x goes factionless.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I got into my first ever faction by a random invite.
Then again, I was only lvl4 and I was like, meh, why not?
Stayed there until around lvl80 and left.
I'm grateful for it though, because I really made alot of friends, most I knew when I was low lvled, and we grew together.
Now we've gone our separate ways, but we're still very close.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

That's the best part! I love it! b:pleased0 -
Personally, I have a factionless alt and when I get tossed a random faction invite without someone talking to me first it tells me how CRAPPY their guild is so I decline. But send it to me more then once, then yes, going to join to tell them how rude they are then leave.
For if the faction is of any quality, they would be more personable then target and invite! b:angry0 -
There is nothing sadder and more desperate than just sending invites to people without talking to them.
And I make damn sure to tell them so before I hit the blacklist button.0 -
I was in the middle of making some new mules and as I logged each character in there was a person camped at the spawn in point sending out random invites, as each invite came I accepted and merrily went about transporting my mule. This process went on for all 8 mules I had created, so now some random guild has 8 level 1 mules of mine sitting in their guild b:chuckle. I accepted another random invite on another mule of mine and when I logged back in found that my mule had been promoted to Executor b:chuckle, suppose some guilds are so desperate for numbers they resort to promoting mules in hopes they will recruit other mules b:laugh0

This is very true.
I get 'em and I've joined all the ones I got randoms from.. and non I stayed in longer than 2 weeks.
They are either dying, or filled with elitism which indicates right off WHY people leave them, or flat out unhelpful and don't like to talk.
The one I'm in now..is so awesome. It takes going through MANY factions before finding a good one.
And yeah I've been insta promoted to executor too(and director) upon joining. I don't like leadership..I suck at it.0 -
I also spended the 100k to create my own fake faction so id be left alone. Running arround at 50+ without a faction is almost impossible. I got like 10 invites per hour and i am just a veno. x.x
Ok now i have the problem that whenever i run through the starter citys i get whispers from peeps who want to join. I kindly explain that my faction is a fake faction and wont be of much use to them which 80% of the peeps just dont accept. This beats me totaly cos i have no clue why they dont get it. Or they start begging or flame me for beeing an elitist. o.O
I love peeps who ask first, it gives me hope that there are still some people in the www who actually know what manners are.b:chuckle
I once accidentally joined a faction when i was just about to log of, screen froze a sec (i swear i pressed no) days later i log in again and over my Clerics head i read Angelsomething (just remember it had to do smth with angels XD).
So i went OMFG-THATS-SO-GIRLY-PRESS-LEAVE-IN-PANIC-REAKTION. Seconds later i got a whisper "Hey why did you leave i like you." And i was like WTF whos that?
It ended with that person spamming me about how horrible her life is and that she plays PWI at school is about 14, im her friend now and that i plz come back. b:shocked
I always decline ninja invites and i hate them, especially the ones who send you like 4 in a row. "Hey lets annoy that girl over there till she gives up and joins anyways!". XD
And what i learned from various mmos is: If they ninja invite you get into a faction full of crybabys and douchbags. :P

Most my alt chars are factionless and between lvl 85-100 so they get bugged a lot about guild.
I think its more annoying when random people starts whispering you about their shietty, inactive nub faction than if they just send a random invite. With a random invite you can just click no and move along.
When they whisper you actually have to type "no thanks" and than they will start the hole "But why! We are a lvl 3 faction and we do BH, Frost etc etc you should really join and we have cookies". Some "requiters" even get rude when you tell them that you have no interest in their faction.
I guess you can blacklist people just after they say "hey are you looking for faction" so they cant keep bugging lol. But than again its easier to just click no from a random invite.
The thing is guildless people normally know what active guilds are around on a server. When they feel ready to join a faction of their choice they will approach an officer themselves and ask if they can join. There is really no need to harass random people at all.0 -
I chose option 3 but I am at the brink of moving into option #2.tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???
frankieraye:All right, I admit it, it's a bit retro. lol.0 -
Hate it, got a few guildless alts but its not as prominent as it was last year.
Shamless plug time.
Im leader of a level 3 guild on HT though we got a 'written in stone' policy on alts 1 main 1 alt rest if they want in an alt guild that way we can keep our happy little guild together.
Over time all alts will be posted too the alt guild, if it fills up we'll make another an another till we got em all. But that wont happen till we fill up Surreal with main toons.
As for recruitment i actually find the constant banter on wc most annoying randoms off WC tend to be the worse kind of whingy whiney types you can imagine. So we dont openly recruit. All our members come too us from people actually getting to know us an wanting too join an its great.
Last year about this time i was guildless on Elronia here for a short time an a level 89 wizzie was hot property for any an all guilds.
I got about 10 random guild invites from various low lifers. Most the TW guilds wanted me i said no to em all. Do your thing for you eh?
Got alot of respect for people whom wanna stay out of it. Esspecially with as many guilds as we have on Heavens tear. I'd hate too walk through laggasaur without that tag on my head.b:shocked0 -
The best is when you join and get insta promotoed to Director.
So you wait a while, and then kick everyone out of the guild, then leave.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
"My understanding of women only goes as far as the pleasure. When it comes to the pain, I'm like any other bloke - I don't want to know."0 -
LMAO Rawrgh that would be mean but tempting. b:chuckle
I have to agree a little with TigerLily it is horrible too when they dont accept your no. I used to write them a wall of text with my reasons why i dont want to join, kept it clean and always were polite, just to see that i can write and explain whatever i want they just wont accept a no.b:angry
So now i just say "No thanks, but ty for asking first." and if they dont accept it i hit the blacklist button.b:chuckle0 -
I hate random invites as well. I either accept the invite and tell em "fail", then leave, or simply decline and then blacklist... but what really grinds my gears is when recruiters shout"...we have cookies." wtf... we have cookies? wtf is that gonna do me when i join? gain super powers cause a faction has "cookies"? seriously, **** with the damn cookies... you sound like an idiot ffs...[SIGPIC]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/TRF4152NR/PWIMILIASIG.png[/SIGPIC]

It has gone down a lot for me --- not having a Herc or even standard uber gear seems to prevent such invites :-)I wonder dose it ever work?
How would I know? Last time I was in guild was years back, and that was with friends.
I just click no. Too bad you can't disable guild invites in PW.Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0
