How do I make Bear Cub worth my time?

So, the Shaodu Cub is my favorite pet in the game, and I've recently made a veno, and am looking to buy/tame one. Is it worth it?
I understand there must be certain skills that need to be bought, Bash, I believe is the one, and I know the bear won't ever be as good a pet as a herc or walker, but if i'm looking for a pretty good tank that isn't ugly like the golem and doesn't cost me my next 3 paychecks like the herc, then would the bear be worth all the money I would put into its skills?
Also, how should I go about removing its skills? Which one should I switch out for Bash? How can I make Bash the skill it will use first in battle so I'm not constantly clicking it?
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated, and I will love you forever b:cute

I don't know about taking out any of the skills from the cub but it does make for a decent tank if you don't want to spend for a herc and not have a chunk of rocks follow you.
As for skills, it comes with Flesh Ream, Pounce, Tough?, and Pierce. Only one I might remove if I had one to replace with bash is pounce, since Flesh Ream is not enough to keep aggro from the long cooldown. It's up to you, but I would not take out pierce or tough. Pierce can sometimes help with debuff, and Tough can help increase the defense of the cub even further to survive.
As for the pet using auto skill, just right click the skill you want it to use on the pet skill bar and make sure it has the yellow outline around it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thank you so much ForsakenX for the sig b:cute0 -

id switch pierce w/ bash, pounce is a rare skill, cannot be bought back at the npc. its nice in duels/pvp as well, and lasts longer than the veno's stun skill. since veno only has 1 stun skill, its also nice to have as a second stun skill.
as for other skills, id keep flesh ream and tough. flesh ream, another good skill in duels, and nice over time dmg on mobs as well. tough is a must have for tanking.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Shaodu Cub has been my main pet for many levels. I also chose it for the same reason as you did. It's cute, cuddly and a decent tank pet. I didn't like the Magmites (and I don't like the Glacial either) so my next option was the cub. I could have gotten a Hercules but I decided to stick with the little bear. Though now in terms of real tanking I use the Armored Bear which is available at level 80 and has a higher growth in defence (not a huge difference but the defence becomes a bit higher by level 86+). The Armored Bear also came with Threaten (decrease opponent's physical attack) and maxed Tough which is a great combination but mostly the Armored Bear is a back up tank for me
I removed Pierce and Flesh Ream from the Shaodu Cub. First I removed Pierce and taught it Bash and later by level 85 I decided to teach it Roar because I can aggro easily (especially ever since the jone's blessing) so I needed a skill that can grab aggro back from me fast (because I'm reckless too xD). It's also good for when I'm helping in a BH/FB and the rest of the squad doesn't give enough time for the pet to generate aggro.
I just thought I should add my experiences here as well.
I'd say that once you get it play with it for a while without touching the skills ( removing/upgrading) and see how it goes. Though Bash and Tough are pretty much "must" for a tank pet ^^[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

You being a fellow Cleric I will be nice to you don't bother investing time in any other pet other than Legendary if you want to replace skill ok but don't lvl it.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -

so says the person with "lvl6X Veno"
60 veno's not enough to be able to say that lol. hit 8x and do some HH n tell me its a good idea to put bash to lv1 and leave it.
for the shadou cub, i'd leave pounce on it. very handy for luring with, ur pet goes and stuns the mob, and when it works (most of the time it does) that mob's stuck there and cant attack you. thats far more valuable than pierce, which btw.. iornwood causes the same effect and is alot more spammable.
so i'd take off pierce, or if you really wanted to keep it and spend the 800k+ to make it a good skill(35% pdef debuff), take off flesh ream, as pounce is a very expensive rare skill and good to have, and tough will be needed for this to be a good tank pet. and btw, when u do put bash on it, always keep it maxed (at lv80 it can be lv5). higher lvl agro skills make more agro, and lvl'd bash also does more dmg helping kill things faster.
since iornood causes the same effect as pierce, this would be the best to remove as you'll most of the time be in human form anyway, and at 80 i reccomend the armored bear and level its bash and frighten to lv5 and you'll have an even better 'free' tank pet. (I've heard of armored bear tanking things in frostcovered city.. a lv80+ instance)i'm pro all classes, and against none in particular..
but the age old QQ about venos is just that. OLD.
QQ'd about a nix lately? check out this thread n tell me who's "OP" lol..

I may have lvl 60 Veno but atleast I know how to use a Herc and Nix the rest are easy to use. What lvl is your Veno the man in the mask?Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -
get it if you want
I can imagine a shaodu cub having "claw" or "penetrate" replacing pierce as a good DD pet

That is correct. I tried a Hercules and a Phoenix on a private server. There's nothing you need to know about them in order to use them except that Hercules with Bramble is a big no no if you want to pull with it.
The only thing that change among the pets is: their animation, their looks, their abilities (depends on skills and stats). Commands are still the same for every pet.
...and I always liked the fact that legendary skills exist and you can put them on pets. You are being creative and you build your own pet. Although I wanted the Hercules I decided not to get it.
I draw and I create. I'd rather build up my own pet xD
I've never had/bought any legendary skills though.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]
