Okay, seriously how do you endgamers do this? At levels up to 10, armor is relatively easy to upgrade the sockets for. Okay, sure the last socket is far from cheap, but it's not going to put you out too much.

At level 11+ gear, all this changes and PWI shows their true colours. I'm sorry, but having run the maths it takes a whopping $87 worth of socket stones just for the last two slots alone on level 11 gear and double that for +12 gear! Multiply that figure by the amount of armor you have and holy smokes...

This game has always pandered to the cash-shoppers, but this is just ridiculous. To purchase the necessary stones in-game would require an equally massive commitment, and then you'd have to find someone crazy enough to have so many stones in stock.

I realise that the cash shop is their bread and butter; it keeps the servers running and updates coming. I also realise that high level gear is supposed to be a pain to upgrade. But this is seriously overkill. It leaps up by a whopping 10 times the level 10 requirement for socketing equipment which is simply unnecessary and unrealistic for your average player.

No doubt this thread will either be flamed or filed in 'the lower depths', but I'd really appreciate some dev reply to justify these ridiculous costs.

It costs about the same in stones for second socket in FC weapons as to buy the weapon itself. It's just the way it is. You slowly save up money and add sockets. If it's not this expensive, you'll have everyone running around with fully socketed gears.

There's nothing wrong with how much it costs to add sockets, as the gear will work fine with 2 or 4 sockets. It's just luxury, like refining. It's perfectly fine for an "average player" that you speak of to have a set of 2 socketed armor. A Mustang will get you from point A to point B just fine and at decent speed if needed, yet a Ferrari costs 10 times as much. It's a better car, but provides similar functions.

Stones are common and cheaper now due to Nien events. You can also get socket stones from tokens.

Telarith - Sanctuary

Merchanting and TT mat runs mostly. People who have been here for 1-2 years, merchant alot, or buy lots of zhen are pretty much needed at end. Figure that a 3rd socket for G13 armor is 2400 stones, which is around 26.4 using 10K tokens. An Illusion Stone gives you around 25 mil (prices based off Sanc). So one drop is enough to get a 3rd socket on your piece. Gives an idea of how to get money to socket or start merchanting, and merchanting gives back a % return, so either route will eventually lead to the needed coins.

As for charging zhen to do it, I dunno. When spending straight up dollars just to add an extra slot on 1 piece of armor, and then buying the gem to shard it with, over and over. Seems like way too much cash for too little return, but bless the people who do it.

Well just from doing the nein beast event, I saved up:

1000 socket stones to add a second socket to my Gx axes
600 socket stones to add a third socket to my TT99 gold wrists

and I have 470 socket stones saved up so far to get a fourth socket on my wrists.

Farm money. Buy tokens, make socket stones. If you think G11 gear is bad, wait till you see requirements for G13+ gear.

I'm still upset that socket stones were removed as a reward for BH100 since end-game gear takes so many stones to socket. However, with the Neinbeast event, I've added a 3rd socket to 2 pieces of 99 gold, 3rd socket on my -int cape... 4 socketed 3 pieces of 80 gold, 4th socket for TC cape for my alt...

But like Michael said, just farm and get tokens to make the socket stones. Right now its about 8-9mill for 3rd socket on HH99. I farmed 4th socket on all of my gear. My event helm is still 2 though because its like 3.6k socket stones to get 3rd socket and I would rather refine atm -.-
