Should thread starters have the power to ban certain people from posting on their threads they made? Seems like a decently fair idea, it'll decrease the amount of flame wars from annoying posters.
I don't care how old or young you are, how small your **** is, how much of a nerd irl you are or how depressed you are that you never will get laid. There is no reason to act like an A-hole to everyone on an mmorpg. Its a shame that I have to take time out of my day to tell people "stop being an A-hole". So I end with this, if your acting like an A-hole, and some one tells you your being an A-hole chances are your being an A-hole.

Also a no. Because that's life. And some thread starters may not only block spammers, but also people they don't like/haters/etc. Don't give people too much power.

No, but the "ignore" function on this forum should work. I've ignored people before and I still see her drivel and b!tching popping up wherever I look.

The only people that would probably be banned from the threads if this was implimented that I could think of would probably be Yulk, Airyll and Lylfob:shocked

You would estimate that it would reduce flame wars, but it could also be used to monopolize the thread and rule with terror (until a mod/GM intervenes).

As much as I dislike trolls and flamers, I believe that this would only tease them into doing worse than they could already.

Besides, this would be giving everyone a part of the power mods and GMs have.

Sorry, but this suggestion implies a device that allows mayhem, the possibility of arbitrary judgments and more powers to trolls, if badly used.

Verdict: Please no. Besides I guess it would never be allowed by the higher ones.
Maintenance time. Please choose a line:
    - When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
    - Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
    - New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
    - When will we get new content? QQ
    - Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
    - I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.
    - *Incessant poking on Sweetiebot* Fun~

I stand corrected. The ignore function no longer works at all. I first tried adding a blank character, then a real character. Nothing happened either time and I can still see their posts.

    This.

Give them an inch and they'll take a few hundred kilometers. Soon you'll have people asking if they can lock their own threads or ban people from the site, maybe even sticky their own threads.

Please, this forum's chaotic enough. It doesn't need help.

I voted yes. The first 2 people I would ban from every thread are MagicHamster who has almost 9000 posts of...XD and b:laugh 2nd person is RedsRose who has to have an opinion on almost every thread on the entire forum.

a killfile function would be really useful, though. i can't even find the ignore option that Tygurr confirmed as nonfunctional; having a working one where it's easy to find and use would be handy.

This suggestion is probably the worst suggestion I've seen and can be explained in one word as to why.

    BIASED!!!

Granting a thread starter the right to ban posters or delete posts has the greater potential for abuse than any benefit it would provide. It gives the thread starter the power to remove any post that counters his post. If someone posts a suggestion and 3 people support it while 997 people think its a horrible idea (like I and others feel about this post), the topic starter could simply delete all posts that don't support his idea and make it look like he has unanimous support from the community when the reality is he doesn't.

No. But I guess it will be good if the thread starters can lock their own threads.

Get a thicker skin. Yes, some people enjoy starting drama or being jerks. That's life. Any controls set up with the idea of stopping this will only cause more complications than they solve. I like to keep things simple, life just works better that way.
