Barefeet for females.

Well, one thing that is really bothering me is that females can't walk barefeet.

When unequipping their shoes, they get some really lame shoes.
After hard thinking about the rules in China, I can't see why females shouldn't walk barefeet.
Don't tell me that these things

actually make them more feminin. :S

Thats why I'd love to suggest about atleast giving females the choice of walking barefeet. Like.. a box to tick or something, so IF someone like these super fashionable shoes, they can still wear it.

this turns out to be technologically difficult, apparently.

changing shoes (or clothes in general) is a reasonably simple matter of switching skins on the player models. (i confess i don't know how this works with the skirts/dresses. seems that would involve changing the 3d model, but maybe there's things i don't know about 3d modeling.)

but changing to no-heel shoes would involve changing the actual shape of the female players' legs and feet, as well as changing the proportions of the model relative to the ground (downwards). it'd be like shifting to true form, and apparently is considered too much trouble to go to.

(i confess i don't know how this works with the skirts/dresses. seems that would involve changing the 3d model, but maybe there's things i don't know about 3d modeling.)

Not to sound like a pervert, but if you look up the skirt/dresses, you can see the legs of the model. The skirt is simply wrapped around an already existing "nude" model (it has panties its not nude nude). The wearing nothing outfit of fashion is itself a model wrapped over the nude form as well. So no 3d model is changed, all fashion & armor including no fashion & no armor, is just wrapper models wrapped over a nude model form. Even the skin tight armors, if you bring your camera in through another model, you can see its 2 layers of polygons, the nude model & the armor model over it. (This is unusual tho, in most games, different model segmants replace each other, this is the only game i know so far that keeps a permanent nude model with other models wrapping over it.)

As to the part about barefeet, what Lenie said is precisely correct. The reason all fashion heels & armor heels and no fashion shoes & no armor shoes are ALL high heeled, is its an all or nonon thing. the bare model has propped up heals, so if they removed the bare fashion heels entirely, all weamon would be walking on tip-toes. You cant just flatten them out and lower the model, as it would require a new model, with all coordinates in the skeleton (this is a term that involves movement) lowered downwards (z coordinate) by a small amount. Its basically an entire model switch.

I wear combat boots for shoes most of the time, unless I want to feel pretty. :P Then I wear one of the two pairs of shoes I have that have visible heels. At least with boots you look like you have flat feet. The Leather Boots and the Steampunk boots, to be exact.
