Glacial Walker|Dark Wanderer

I've seen many discussions on comparing these two. However, I just got my Glacial Walker, and I know it's going to get better as I level it, but the stats don't seem to match with the performance it's doing. It's also probably because my DW is Loyal, 801+. But just checking. Will my GW's stats improve if it's that loyal? Sorry that this may be a noobish question that was already answered.

Whenever I fight with my GW, I have to constantly heal it. It's supposed to have a very high physical defense, but when I'm fighting monsters close to my level, I have to heal it at least three times, every time. But when I take out my Wanderer, I usually just heal it once, sometimes twice, and the mob's dead. My GW takes a lot more damage, differing from its stats. When I fight mobs of more than one, it can't really keep aggro. And since I have to heal it so much, the mobs come after me. Is this also because of the level and loyalty? Or am I completely wrong. o_o

Currently, it's:

Dark Wanderer
HP: 600
Phys. Res.: 1644
Accuracy: 366
Atk. Rate: 0.80/sec
Hunger: Full
Start Lvl: 10
Phys. Atk: 244
Mag. Res.: 1057
Evade: 244
Speed: 7.0m/sec
Loyalty: Loyal 801
Type: Land

Glacial Walker
HP: 678
Phys. Res.: 1672
Accuracy: 3286
Atk. Rate: 0.60/sec
Hunger: Full
Start Lvl: 19
Phys. Atk: 232
Mag. Res.: 1226
Evade: 212
Speed: 5.5m/sec
Loyalty: Tame 355
Type: Land

Edit: Both are level 19 currently.

your glacial walker loyalty is lower, its not getting its full attack potential. also, you forgot to mention levels of the pets. get both of your pets to full loyalty bar. when you GW is full, its attack will be a lot better.

What's getting me is the defense. I know the GW's Dps is not as fast as the DW, so I know it'll probably do more damage since everyone says it's the preferred tank. But I have no idea why its HP goes down so fast.

you also have a brand-new glacial walker compared to a nine levels "old" dark wanderer. your wanderer has had time to grow its skills some, the walker hasn't. for comparison, my level 42 glacial walker:

    HP: 1494
    Phys. Res.: 3972
    Acc.: 631
    Atk. Rate: 0.60/sec
    Phys. Atk.: 901
    Mag. Res.: 2913
    Evade: 467
    Speed: 5.8 m/s
    Loyalty: 916

afraid my wanderer is still egged... i got my fourth pet bag, but picked up an eldergoth marksman and kindof like the ugly ape.

    1. its probably the mobs your attacking, magic mobs are not good for the walker.
    2. use the Roar skill if your fighting multiple mobs at once, it helps a lot.

@Krisnda: They're physical mobs, like Feligar Vanguard, Feral Ursog Cheif, and those spiders by Silk Ridge. But its Mag. Res. is higher than my DW, and that's what confuses me. o.o

@Lenie: :OO I see. But the stats to my DW are higher, yet it still takes more dmg? I'll level my Glacial Walker and see if it gets better =)

like LenieClarke, since your GW is stil lvl 19, its stats havnt grown yet like you warder has ...

eachs pets grow differently, some may get more defense each level than others, or hp, or attack, for example. your GW will eventually get more defense than your warder, so just keep leveling your walker, and soon he will be able to tank better than your warder, you just need to wait a few levels for its stats to grow.

all veno pets, unless they're using skills, (to my knowledge) use physical attacks.

I'm not sure, as I haven't used a DW b4, but from what I heard:

    GW is better tank

DW has slightly higher MDef though, but GW has an overall better defense and HP

    DW has better DPS

This is all assuming that you're comparing both pets at the same level.

    For the loyalty bit:

Get your pet's loyalty above 500, and they'll do the most damage they can (over 500 loyalty = pet is 'loyal', as opposed to 'tame' or whatever...)

Edit: Pointed out if you haven't realised, (not sure if 500 is loyal, but let's assume that 501 is) pet at 501 loyalty will do same damage as pet at 800 loyalty, and 600 loyalty, etc (once pet is 'loyal', pet does highest dmg possible)

    At 21, both fully loyal:

    Dark Wanderer
    HP: 659
    Phys. Res.: 1831
    Accuracy: 403
    Atk. Rate: 0.80/sec
    Phys. Atk: 280
    Mag. Res.: 1177
    Evade: 268
    Speed: 7.1m/sec

    Glacial Walker
    HP: 749
    Phys. Res.: 1872
    Accuracy: 316
    Atk. Rate: 0.60/sec
    Phys. Atk: 319
    Mag. Res.: 1373
    Evade: 234
    Speed: 5.6m/sec

When fighting more than one mob, you have to make sure the pet hits everything, preferably at least once with an aggro skill (icicle and roar on the walker, roar and pierce on the wanderer) in order to avoid pulling aggro on heals. Even at that, with more than 3 mobs being tanked, if you don't shift attacks around sooner or later one will aggro to your heals.

I currently am running a 21 pure mag veno alt through the den of rabid wolves with a walker, a wanderer and a varicose scorpion in her pet bag, and I find that the wanderer is the worst of the set in holding aggro.

Against multiple mobs, yes. It has faster atk rate, but lower atk but better dps. I don't think aggroing 3 mobs at a time is efficient at that level on any mobs I'm aware of. You're best off picking them off one by one, and for that the DW should be best.

The amount of damage your pet takes in a fight depends both on its defense and it's attack. The quicker your pet can kill a mob, the less time it has to hit your pet, and consequently the less damage your pet will take.

From the stats you've posted, the walker is not at 500+ loyalty, so the wanderer is able to kill stuff ~40% faster than the walker.
