Ok....2 separate questions. First off, the windcatcher xbow was rated as a good alternative to the more expensive TT weapons. I would like to hear from people who have used or are using the weapon. I planned on it but then was let down that it did less damage then my TT80 due to dex bonus.

With the sale on orbs people are all + their stuff.......wouldn't the tishi stones be a good idea too...I understand its only a 33% success but instead of going to 0 each time it only goes down by 1. Its also 33% all the way up to 8+ I am looking for some advice on +'ing items since I wasted 140 stones today:( and only got a 2+ All bad luck aside...it should be succeeding 30% of the time...which it does not seem to be doing.

I can't really speak on the subject of the Windcatcher. I hear the -.int is win but idk.

As far as the tisha stones goes, i hate em to death. I once got a set of ten thinking the same you were. "Better chance and it only goes down by one, what could go wrong?" Every single one failed. >>

But that could just be bad luck on my part.

Well, I used Windcatcher for a glorious amount of 2 levels, after which I got a TT90 crossbow.

Nowadays you're just better off going for a Vast Land at 85.

But yes, Windcatcher is still cheaper than Vast Land or TT90 crossbows. And it also has some pretty neat mods for PvE, as +range and -interval works very well together with mobs: the range means the mob is farther away from you and the -interval means you get more hits at it.
If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.

Honestly, if you FC much, the windcatcher is perfect for using until 95. If you dont plan on getting the heaven shatterer or something else at 95, a TT90 bow/xbow might be better though. Just depends on how much you pvp/TW and how well you refine of course.

At level 90, I had a +4 bow that dealt damage equal to Windcatcher +4 w/ 2 sockets. It worked fine for PvE purposes. There are enough bad archers out there with better gear that you can play well and steal aggro from them, if you are competitive like that.

I love my Windcatcher. :P Adding Sage/Demon Winged Blessing to that gives you a 36/34m range (respectively) which is even better. A few weeks ago I was involved in a complex attempt to kill the water boss in the Frozen River (for the 90+ Treasure quest). After pulling it to land, we began to kill it with a herc tanking, two BMs DDing, my fiancee healing, and me. I was way in the back DDing with my Windcatcher (and I do have Sage Winged Blessing).

There was another archer in the party, too - a demon, without any (apparent) range mods and (IIRC) a full dex build. He died no less than three times trying to DD with his xbow (either Fragrance or some TT90, can't remember). After getting his ignorant butt res'd three times (a dangerous move considering the boss had AoE), I informed him (again) to just stay the hell away, adding "let the fail sage archer take care of it." XD (Of course, I'm sure if he had a 34m range, he'd probably have been safe from the AoEs, but yeah)

tl;dr: I <3 Windcatcher. :P I'm gonna +3 mine today, actually, using the sale event.

As for Tisha Stones: I managed to get my Vast Land to +3 with them (and a few other things to +1), but I was very lucky. I wouldn't trust them for any serious purpose.

My tt80 gold bow out damaged my windcatcher but my bow was 2 sockets with +4 refines and immac, while my windcatcher was +2 with only 1 flawless in it. But if you don't want to spend money and just want to get the 95 LG weap, a windcatcher will do you just fine. And as stated above the range is awesome. (pissed off a few other archers by paralizing them then pew pewing just out of distance)

The range seems to get mixed results.....This was the one thing that I thought would be great. Take the 2m from the weapon and the 4 from sage skill...that is 6m further then most other classes and still 4m better then demon archers. Similar to a strong jab in boxing I would think this could be a very effective weapon

    +1 to this.

I do no serious PVP, but I'll accept the occasional duel if I believe I have any chance of winning - but I'm not full-dex, I'm sage, and I'd NPC a piece of event gear out of protest before wearing it. So I can't beat too many people. :P When I do, it's pretty much only by making use of my 36m range. Then is the person loses, I usually get yelled at for it - as if I'm not allowed to use the one thing that would give me a chance. XD Even in battles without genie skills, one cast of Elven Aclarity puts me easily far enough away.
