Ive been trying for many weeks to make large amounts of money in quick succession.
Ive tried to make subs by harvesting the mats for it, but there is always too many people after them.
Ive tried grinding, but im not sure what mobs to grind on and its fairly slow.
Ive tried making mirages, but the comptetion is too high for me to make a profit.
I'm not sure how to merchant, or what to merchant.
anyone know any other ways? if it matters im a pve 69 archer

^ That. That's why in real life and in game, you will never be able to break it rich. People will not tell you exactly what to do or how to do it. Its greed, but hey, if they tell you they risk making less money and that won't work. You will just have to find your owns ways, like I am doing.

The best way to make money depends on how much you have to start with. If you have 10m+ (give or take), the best way is to merchant. If you're not there yet, the best way is probably farming Twilight Temple.

Most people will not tell you what/how to merchant, because that cuts into their profits. I would go find a good squad to TT with, preferably not 6 people. Look in the auction house to see how much mats are going for, and see where you can get the most profit for the least effort.

That being said, "the best way to make money" is definitely NOT the same as "the easiest way to make money." If you're looking for the latter, you need only open your wallet.

Not sure if this will help you, but here's how I have made enough money to buy all my relevant skills, buy armor that I update every 2 or 3 levels, update my weapons every 2 or 3 levels and have almost 2 million in the Account Stash, all without using the cash shop. Also, all of my crafting skills are at level 3.

I make a note of all the DQ materials that are appropriate to my level range. For instance, I'm currently level 41 which is appropriate for the level 41 DQ mats. ( I actually started on the level 41 mats when I was level 37 ). I then go to pwdatabase.com and Search for one of the mats. Then I click on a mob which drops those mats that is plus or minus 2 levels of myself and check the map on the mobs data page to see where there is a large concentration of those mobs. I put the co-ordinates into my co-ordinates assistant and farm those mobs for a few hours.

Hopefully, I not only have loads of the relevant DQ mats, but other useful drop items too. With the DQ mats, I either travel around the Archo cat shops looking to see who is buying those mats and selling to them, or I put them on the AH. If they haven't sold on the AH after 24 hours, and no Cat shops are buying them, I sell to a vendor, which still produces a fair whack of coin.

Sometimes I hit an area which has different mobs that drop different DQ mats, and this makes it easier to accumulate coin due to the fact that if a Cat Shop is not buying one type of DQ mat, they may be buying the other.

Anyway, I spend about 3-4 hours every two or three days just farming DQ mats and I'm never short of coin. More often than not, while I'm farming, I have to travel to a nearby city or outpost to sell off other dropped items (vendor trash) to clear my inventory space.

Anyway, that's how I have accumulated coin since level 1. Also, whether I'm lucky or not, I seem to always be farming mobs that hang around Apothecary material spawn points, so harvesting the Apothecary mats keeps me in relevant pots, and allows me to sell excess Apothecary materials, or materials I don't use, which is another cash earner.

When I'm not farming, I go questing which is also a source of income. Every 2 or 3 levels when I need to upgrade some armor or weapons, I check the AH to see how much the new armor / weapon will cost, then go out and farm DQ mats for a couple of hours to be able to afford the item from the AH.

By the way, I'm a Venomancer which as we all know is a farming machine, but I suppose an Archer, BM, Wiz or Psych could do just as well.

Anyway, that's my trick, which may need to be amended as I level up some more, but at this time I am comfortably well off for coin and equipment.

    Just my tip.

^ reason why I was always poor and badly geared on every game besides JD and RS...
I don't care how old or young you are, how small your **** is, how much of a nerd irl you are or how depressed you are that you never will get laid. There is no reason to act like an A-hole to everyone on an mmorpg. Its a shame that I have to take time out of my day to tell people "stop being an A-hole". So I end with this, if your acting like an A-hole, and some one tells you your being an A-hole chances are your being an A-hole.

    Oh very much so.

Once upon a time, a guy I was talking with was upset about how good my gear was and how much he had paid and did not have anything like my gear. So I gave him a few indirect and obscure hints.

Within a week, someone that looked exactly like him (but with a different name) was severely cutting into my profits. I had to totally change how I approached marketing after that.

So, um... marketing is totally impossible and makes no money!
