Are tailor skills needed?

Clerics don't have enough Dex or Strength to make use of high level armor.

So, does a cleric need to worry about manufacturing equipment?

Clerics wear either Light Armor or Arcane Armor. It just depends on your build. Tailor skill would be great to have if you like wearing 3* armor. Which is better than the regular NPC armor and, in some cases, better than the Quest rewards ^^. So, level the Tailor skill if you like that and dont mind farming for the materials needed, or purchasing the materials.

EDIT: and dont mind spending coins and spirit to level the skill.

I think OP needs to rethink the build ( stats like magic, strength or dexterity and vitality ) and then see if it is possible to find appropriate gear, or add points in her stats to make it possible to wear better gear.
OP will need some other armor sometime, whether she makes it herself or not is not the issue. She can just buy it, probably a lot cheaper then leveling up tailor skills to make it. But it's nice to be independent of others....

Tailoring doesn't require Strength or Dexterity, only the Tailor skill matters in regards to creating equipment with your label sown into the hemline. It's not required if you know someone you trust to hand over materials needed to craft ___.

But to nirvana a bound item(like tt 99), you'll need tailor to do it yourself. Or you can make a new tt99, passes it to someone you trust along with countless uncannies and hopes that he returns the crafted good to you ;)

This only applies to anyone who is aiming for end game btw.
