Hello everyone

I was wondering, my mag attack is 3743-4045.
My average attack is 4k, but shouldn't i get at least 5k?

For example. My cyclone is lvl 10, making the damage my base attack + 100% weapon attack + 1372

I don't know if my base attack is with or without weapon so i won't use it in here =3

But 3743+1372= still 5115 for me. So why do i keep hitting in a range of 3.7k and 4k?

    Monsters have resistances too.

What Falcondance said is true. Here is further explanation.

Let's find a monster your level. Hood of the High Seas should work. Say you use Plume Shot (so we don't have to deal with any mastery modifications) on it. The damage is "base magic attack plus 100% of weapon damage plus 1379.6."

The average of 3743 and 4045 is 3894. We'll use that as your base magic attack for simplicity's sake. I'm going to assume your weapon is a Sakyamuni's Light since it gives a similar magic attack at level 79. Its weapon damage is 598-731, and the average is 664.5. Again, for simplicity's sake, let's just use the middle.

    Base magic attack + 100% of weapon damage + 1379.6 = 3894 + 664.5 + 1379.6 = 5938.1

5938.1 is the average raw damage output from Plume Shot. Now we take the monster's physical defense into consideration because Plume Shot does physical damage. Hood of the High Seas apparently has 1688 physical defense. The damage reduction formula is defense / ( defense + (40 * level) ). This applies for physical and magical defenses whether it's a character or a mob.
    1688 / ( 1688 + (40 * 79) ) = 0.34818

Hood of the High Seas has roughly a 35% reduction in physical damage taken. That means, of course, he receives 65% of Plume Shot's damage output.

    5938.1 * 0.65 = 3859.7

This means, on average, your Plume Shots will deal about 3859 damage to this particular mob and any similar ones.
