fraps video editing

ok guys i recently got fraps and want to put PW vids on youtube. i like to edit the videos like make a couple of clips then put one after the other and more. do you guys know an editing program i could do this with? cuz when i use windows movie maker it makes the quality really bad after i upload it to youtube. so if you guys could tell me how to change the settings on WMM to make it look better, another program to make it look good on youtube preferrably free, or even how to pause fraps would help!

    Sony Vegas Pro is one of the best video editing software i've seen. Many youtube vid people use it like crazy.

    Photoshop is also an option.

    Gimp....not sure but I think it has an expansion or something like an add-on to enable vid editing.



    also to pause fraps, you best look at the settings you have set for "Recording", "Pause recording", etc.

    Agree with LifeHunting, Vegas is an excellent choice. If you have the RAM to spare, Adobe AfterEffects is also a decent pick. Using WMM is a bit like taking a moped to a demolition derby - it's painful, underpowered, and the results will be rather messy.


    Photoshop & Gimp are for editing images, not video though.

    Kephras: I used WMM.....It turned out Ok for pic's.....but....with 3D models and such.....holy ****..X_X....


    I thought it was like watching a murder unfold in high speed and the murder just repeated hundred upon hundreds of times >.<

    you do knw that fraps can take images too?
    i do screenshot videos, and use onetruemedia (online video editor website), you can upload JPEG images and make some funky montages

    Esnemyl - yeah, they can, but the topic is about video editing software. Which is always a fun topic for me since I love ragging on Windows Movie Maker. b:chuckle

    ...although to be fair, the worst part of WMM is just the exporting options - or lack of the same. If they had plugins to encode at different quality levels and formats, it might be acceptable software, if not particularly versatile. As it stands, Microsoft shot themselves in the foot by giving it such miserable quality outputs.

    how do you make a screenshot video, just take alot of pictures?
    can fraps pause? cuz i cant find it

    Screenshot videos are more commonly referred to as slideshows - just a series of screenshots arranged in some manner. Esnemyl actually posted a pretty well-done one some time ago: Untamed Love

    As for pause, I don't believe so. I use the free version of Fraps, with the 30-second capture limit, and in that regard it's either on and recording, or it's not. Hit stop, and it pops out the video segment.
    That's not entirely a bad thing though, as I find it simpler to work with many small clips rather than scan through one long one to find the bit I need.

    Personally, I'd have a look at the bottom two, WAX and Zwei-Stein. According to the description at least, you stand a reasonable chance of getting decent video out of either.

    thank you guys for all your help, i tried wax and its good but it saves them into wax projects whatever i do. that way youtube cant recognize it. ive just decided i wont edit my vids ill just use fraps cuz that makes them look great. c ya!

    I downloaded Wax to have a look - very much a freeware Vegas. Your export options are located in "Project" - Settings to set Video Output formats & coding, and Render to export the video as something other than a wax project-file. (a 320x240 AVI appears to be the default output).

    Looking forward to seeing what you create :)

    sorry for all the trouble, but i can't figure this out. when i hit save what type of file am i supposed to save it as? i went to projects<settings then what?

    BAD ELQaAdRoo! *smack*

    ORUSHo, "Save" is for saving a project file. When you have something finished and ready to produce, you use the "Render" option, which is as I mentioned above under the "Project" menu, not File.
    File->Save/Save-As (For work-files)
    Project->Render (For final .AVI output)

    Well there are a couple of options...

    1) Try all of the Sony Vegas 1 month trial video editing software! Mainly Vegas 8, Vegas 9, Pro, and any more you can find >.> Vegas 7 is kind of eeh...but you should get like 3 months of free awesome pwnage video editing software! (If you have various comps in your house then you could have like...6-12 months of free trial software!)

    2)Buy a video editing software

    3)find a friend who has vegas and ask if you can use their software OR maybe they still have the cd :p

    4)Go to your video editing classroom and ask for permission to use their program (might help if you know the teacher or have friends in that class)

    5)cnet.com is awesome place for finding free or trial versions of video editing software

    Now for your little problem with Wav files and various other files just download a file converter :D which you can find on cnet as well

    Good Luck and if all else fails...may WMM do you well o.o (some WMM updates on Microsoft don't always help).

    thx 4 replying to me guys ill try vegas pro.

    i put the vid i made on wax onto youtube and it looked worse than my WMM vid! so that's not gonna work...
