Seamstress NPC doesn't see my pigments

I just bought a few pieces of fashion (skirt, shoes, etc) along with about 34 random pigments. The items are all dye-able, according to their description. But when I visit the seamstress, she doesn't see the pigments when item is placed in the little box. It shows the number of pigments required, then 0 pigments in inventory (like this 9/0).

Is it a glitch?

    Did you drag the pigments into the other little box?
