Passive Skills and finding hay

How do you level up your passive skills like blacksmith and apothecary? Also I am trying to expand my pet bag but have no idea where to find hay. I tried to search the post but the search does not seem to work for anything I look up. I appreciate the help everyone!

    Manufacturing skills are leveled by making items that require your current skill level, and when the skill bar is full, going to see an elder to level it. Note: Levels 4, 6, and 8 require additional quests (apothecary requires just the purchase of a skill book.)
