I read the stickies and such, and to be honest I guess I either missed it or didn't understand...basically what I want to know is how many of what Attribute points do I put where? I plan on playing with my Friend who will probably make a Cleric...so it would at most be the two of us until we need actual groups for anything...
Thank you in advance.

For PvE server I would go vit/axe build. 3 str 1 dex 1 vit per level. When you start feeling like you miss too often, add 3 str 2 dex per level until that's corrected. When you start feeling too squishy add 3 str 2 vit. Always maintain enough str and dex to use your weapon of choice (you can check the AH or Blacksmith to see if you're statting correctly for your weapon path, but add your free points to balance out your dex or vit when you feel you need more of one or the other. b:byeI post in forums. +1 to everything Michael_dark said, except I wouldn't use only Axes. :P
Ironically, the two weapon classes that are considered most useful for BMs are axes and fists. Fists do the most damage in the shortest time (DPS), whereas Axes come with the most AoE skills. You need more Dex for fists, and more Str for axes. Pay close attention to what you'd like to equip in the future, and what stats are required to equip them.
Since you said you'd be grinding with a cleric, you have two strategies:
1) Pick off mobs (monsters) one by one. Any single character... including clerics... can take on any single mob of their level and usually win. With that in mind, your quests with your cleric friend may go faster if you each focused on different monsters (since you will both share credit for the each others' kills). You can use any weapon for this - fists may be the most efficient for this purpose, or you could look into sword or spear if you choose.
2) Some mob species are aggressive, but they only do melee attacks (example: Seaweed Thief, Lv72). In this case you, the BM, can run around grabbing the attention of the mobs, and then unleash your AoE attacks to kill them. Your cleric friend should be healing you while you do this since they'll likely do a lot of damage while you're AoEing them. However, this strategy only applies to melee-only monsters - many monsters cast magic or shoot from a distance, making it ineffective (I would return to Strategy #1 in this case). Also, this strategy usually requires axes since they get the most AoE attacks.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

At lower levels you just don't have enough vit. I'd avoid fists until a bit later when you can afford to add a little. Just my opinion though. Pre-lvl 30, weapon is really unimportant.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
Oh yeah, obviously.
I didn't pick up fists on my BM until about 58, but that was because I figured out how useful they are in PVE (shadowless kick) around that time. It was later I realized they were the best DPS, and by that time event gear had come out and classic fist-play had turned into "must stack -int lololol" -_-[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Fist are usable from level 1
Dark makes alot of great points, but I'd point out Sanctuary doesn't want another axe/vit BM build because they're useless. What he is suggesting is very practical, but would require a restat (cash shop purchase) later on to move some of your stats from vitality into dexterity when you do go fists.
The best build (imo) is 3str/2dex but it is squishier until later. Just takes a little more bravado to work with then the other builds but is worth it.
If your friend is making a cleric I'd suggest learning about aggro and heal aggro early. Aggro stands for aggression or hate. The monster attacks who it hates the most, meaning if you have done the most damage to it; It's you. If noone else has done damage to it, then its the person healing. So to protect your cleric friend you have to be first in and hit everything at least once before he can start healing you or else they go straight for him. You'll learn alot of tricks to manage this.
Happy killing! b:byeSeven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0
