What does leveling up my ride actually do?

Well i'm just curious that's all... I'm an Elf on PWI but i bought a panther to ride around on it's lvl 11 now. Does this actually do anything or just make it go faster? I'm assuming it just makes it go faster, which i'm not really too bothered about lol.

    It makes it go faster. Each level adds 0.1 m/s to its speed, up to a maximum of +1.0m/s at level 11.

    Also, keep feeding your pet(i use pure water) to boost its loyalty. the more loyal it is, the less chance of the mount throwing you off when struck by a mob

    Increasing mount level:

    1. Increases the move speed. Which is kind of the whole reason you had the mount in the first place, so that's good.
    2. Decreases (some, not a huge amount) the chance of you getting knocked off your mount when a monster hits you.

    lol yeah... my sin got no loyalty on its mount so it gets knocked off by the slightest touch from a low lvl mob >__> <--lazy to feed

    nuu D:< You level up the mount by riding it, and spurs add an extra 1 m/s, along with lowering the level requirement.. So if you had a whatever mount at 7 m/s, if you spurred it, it would go to 8 m/s, regardless of the pet's level.

    Leveling up your ride means better hydraulics and a better quality stereo system.

    You're not missing much... my mount is at max loyalty (I have a tome so I don't have to feed it anymore to keep loyalty maxed), and I get knocked off at least once (sometimes two to three times) if I do the World Quest on the ground instead of flying and going afk. It's pretty annoying to get knocked off a L11 mount with 999 Loyalty while passing some ranged mob in the Lost or Plume beginner areas as I'm doing WQ T_T.

    get 501+ loyalty with an xmas tome, that's about as cheap as you can make a mount to still be effective (loyalty does nothing above 501)

    Levelling mounts just increases the speed up to 1 m/s at lvl 11, as has already been said.
    HT clerics at their finest:

    hari: can you do mdef debuffs? makes the fight go faster
    naughty_x: waste, I do more damage without them
    hari: ...you do more damage in 2 seconds than reducing mdef by 35% for 4 casters does in 20 seconds?
    naughty_x: is waste, i do more damage

    hari: 3-3 BH goes a lot faster with a sin
    naughty_x: no, only a difference of like 3 minutes
    hari: ...we've been in here a lot longer than 3 minutes already

    Meh, mounts = good ground travel around towns (especially arch >.<)
