Getting Hit

Currently, my assassin is lvl 66 and I've been reading where sin's are not getting hit when using stuns.
In my experience in using Tackling Slash and Rib Strike, I'm still getting hit by the PVE mobs. I just got my 2nd spark and have not tried some of the 59 skills yet and I'm trying to determine what is the best combo to open up with against PVE mobs. I mainly use Tackling Slash and then DD until dead. Against magic mobs, I use Tackling Slash and either Knife Throw or Throatcut, then DD until dead.
Thanks for all the advice!

Well for starters, tackling slash and rib strike are not stuns. Tackling slash is an immobilize which is very useful for gaining chi or stopping mobs that like to run around. Rib strike is also a very effective skill against physical mobs, but they still attack, just much slower. Throatcut, Shadow Teleport, and Headhunt prevent mobs from attacking at all. However as a close range fighter you are bound to get hit. Using bloodpaint tends to alleviate a large portion of the damage, if not all of it when coupled with natural evasion from dex. At least vs. Physical mobs. For pure grinding, or "grind quests" where you have to kill x amount of mobs, I typically rib strike, spark, and attack until they die, using skills like rising dragon strike and tackling slash to replenish chi when necessary.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

For physical only mobs, Tackling Slash > Shadow Jump (non-stun) > swing. You won't get hit until immobilize wears off. In that instance, Deep Sting, wait for Tackling Slash cooldown, rinse and repeat until mob is deathd.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This is true, although I'm just waiting for them to tell us this is bannable like the veno air pet glitch that prevents mobs from attacking.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

There are other combos to avoid being hit, although they waste a large amount of MP.
Edit: Unless you use a trusty bow, of course. :P[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

imo it's very tedious trying not to get hit if not damn near impossible. Most mobs after 60 will start casting spells at you while you're running towards them and then follow it up immediately with a physical attack when you get in range so you're bound to get hit at least twice.
What I've been doing recently is double spark > rib strike > rising dragon strike > hit til dead. Then inner harmony in between whenever it's cooled down and repeat. Basically use RDS or IH whenever they are cooled down and you have less than 1 spark. This allows you to double spark before every mob and if you time it right, it should resist the initial magic and physical attack or at the very least the magic one if you mess up the timing. Not only do you kill faster and take less damage, you get the 10% heal from spark and better life gain from bloodpaint. Doing this, I rarely use hp pots anymore. Maybe 1 every 15-20 mobs unless I get ganged by a bunch of them.0 -
Just focus on killing mobs that are ranged whenever you can. At your level, there are some by Wraithgate (I think they are called towerlings) which are ranged attacks, and better yet they don't move or run away. Put on Bloodpaint (Life Powder if you want to avoid using any pots at all) and just kill them one after another using only regular attacks, and sparking when you get it. They also have a decent drop rate for Seele Tokens (DQ), so they are good for giving you some money as well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Didn't get the rest of it, but apparently I am the "destroyer of sin haters" as well.0 -
I prefer Tackling Slash, especially in mobs like Trioc Ruffians and Lords that love to run through other mobs, to keep them where I can hit them. I'll experiment with 2 sparks, RDT and IH. Thanks for the great information!0

Ways to not get hit on magic mobs:
1) Spark mid-channeling on the magic attack, rib strike, normal attacks.
2) Deep sting while channeling, spark, rib strike, normal attacks
Ways to not get hit on melee mobs:
1) Run up til they aggro you and then spark + tackling slash. Either run into the mob or use shadow jump if your lazy. Normal attack
2) (Personal favorite) Walk up stealthed into the mob. Spark + tackling slash + auto attack
3) Run up til they aggro you and then spark + rib strike + normal attack. You will get hit, but this is a much easier technique than the others.
Focus Mind should always be up (max this). Spark spamming is the easiest and most efficient way to grind for a sin. Do not bother with anything besides Deep Sting, Rib Strike, or Tackling Slash unless you've got multiple mobs on you. Remember that throatcut seals mobs and makes them run away. So if you get ganked by 3 mobs: deep sting one, throatcut the other, tackling slash and run inside the last. I always feel like a ninja when I pull that off hehe0 -
I used that tackling slash trick all the way up. You can just teleport, tackling slash, and kill them before they ever hit you.
For magic mobs, you just teleport without using tackling slash. Use bloodpaint to out heal the low physical damage and spark occasionally for extra hp.
At higher levels, you can 1v1 mobs all day without using any hp or mana pots or skills. For faster grinding, you can use triple spark and take on several at a time without using any pots.0
