Armor from your characters??

Yulk - Heavens Tear

I will state my characters that use the armors, state your reasons with each please

BM (both main and alt) : Heavy armor, they are melee, ofc. Most likely going to get hit by physical attacks which is obvious. I do carry light armor in my inventory for my main BM, but not alt BM. So I prefer heavy simply because I love P.DEF and more HP OFC

Barb : Again heavy armor, pure VIT barbs ftw b:cute he got low M.DEF permanently but who cares, he got huge HP pool to make up for lost M.DEF and he got alacrity of the beast. I prefer heavy armor over any others

Veno: light armor, more P.DEF while average M.ATK. she can be a good DD at later levels too . But problem is that she will lack some HP if I don't get the VIT in gears. I did want to make a heavy veno before, but ugh, not worth it lol. Light armor isn't so bad but I like heavy better still

Archer: light armor, used to be heavy but changed into light armor lol, he's just going to die like 3 or more times a day anyways. b:chuckle

Wizard: arcane robe, ugh, squishy -_-" she always got to kite so yeah... she's more of a support wizard, so a lot of points on magic just for good heals.

Cleric: arcane robe again... squishy... seriously, very close to pure magic and still not enough MP for her MP costly skills b:surrender but when in squad and she just heals, she just stacks 3 ironhearts then meditate till ironheart buff runs out... support cleric ofc

My reasons for their gear? It's the best option for the class.

Barb and BM = HA (though my main BM is currently wearing LA since lv 5x-6x mobs are magic-using pricks)

Venomancer --- Arcane, of course. She's a mage, and even has a pet. If something kills my pet despite my healing efforts, it will probably blow through light armor in no time.

Reminds me of this guy from, well, another game --- he was somewhat famous for making a bunch of rather extreme characters just to see how it would work out, writing a little story around their adventures. One of these was a barbarian who sooo wanted to be a sorcerer but just couldn't do it, until he got his hands on this special piece of gear that allowed him to fire some weakly fireballs (which was part of the set I used on my main chars, incidentally. I could wear the full thing, though, making the fire spells actually useful in endgame and providing a ton of useful bonuses along with it). And so he set out to prove that just being a Barbarian doesn't mean you can't be a Sorcerer :-)

I wish I could remember some actual names as input for google...

Wrong, venomancers are a hybrid class. Clerics, wizards and psychic are mages

Fox form attacks isn't magic attacks which is what I usually use. I don't need pet to tank for me b:chuckle... and another note venoes get p.atk bonus.

They use magic in human form and physical attacks in fox form. There are heavy venoes too you know strictly using fox form. Melee mastery you forgotten too? befudding mist and life leech and ofc auto attacks from sparks

Edit: on top of that LA venoes are the easiest to play b:sweat

That would probably be Skoomu if I remember right... damn good cleric that knows what he is doing, probably only heavy cleric that managed to pull it off properly

Lol, sounds like a risky thing your talking about. I watch how much damage is taken to my squad members, I don't just use 3 ironhearts alone, if the dps on them is enough for just 3 ironhearts, I'll do it, its called conserving MP. Nobody died from the way I am healing, and if they reach at half HP, I spark then pure hearted blessing or wellspring surge, they get healed from close to full to full HP. I already watched this from my barbarian already as a tanker, like when someone takes damage, I have a habit of using that flesh ream.

And wizzie heals don't fail, I encountered some good wizards when I was tanking. They know when to use their strategies.

On top of that, friends of mine that tried to kill Rankar and wyvern asked my cleric to help heal while I was LVL41 -_-" I'm damn squishy and sure I'll get killed in AOE lol

2. In case you haven't notice, I heal 1119-1127 (rounded) with LVL9 pure hearted blessing, slow, yes, effective, yes. This is without spark. Now when I use spark its 1400-1413. I don't have to use ironheart again when I buffed me or the tank with ironheart after stacking, I clearly use pure hearted blessing when the tank gets to 50% lower. Only fail barbs would hate me for that lol. If a barb cannot survive for at least 5 seconds, then he needs more HP / resistances because I am healing them fine and have yet to find a barb getting killed even with my healing. Again, don't judge pure heart because its 3 seconds of channeling to use. Learn to manage time before you judge. And Ironheart alone won't cut it sometimes, I can tell from what happened ingame. Most clerics only rely on ironheart and BB which is not really smart because there are bosses and mobs that AOE debuffs while ironheart buff is clearly gradual healing. So ironheart is basically the slowest effect of heal but it does stack to make it up. I remembered a BM tried to tank Farng one time and the other cleric was just buffed the BM with 1 ironheart every 15 secs, the BM died though because 1 ironheart each wasn't enough

Edit: and its not just barbs I heal fine with, its also BMs, archers, wizards and veno (yay my daughter ofc)

My uncharmed cleric solo'd Farng at the level you get the quest and without spamming event HP foods.

Had I been using purehearted instead of IH, I'd have either died or been unable to actually attack because I'd be spending all my time keeping myself alive. When you're in things for an actual decent level, you'll come to realize that purehearted doesn't cut it and that direct heals tend to suck compared to heal over time skills and constant heals.

Oh and while you're mentioning AoEs.... Chromatic exists for a reason, ya know.

well yulk since your inexperience speaks for itself, lemme give you some numbers

your in BH29 on your cleric about now right?

physical attack on mobs there is about 600 from these mobs, lets give them a slow attack rate of .8 hits per second, now to switch from pureheart from one person to another, if it literally takes a 3 second channel and a 1 second cast, and lets give .5 seconds to switch target, so 4 for 1 person then to switch 4.5 to get a cast

so barb and BM are feeling suicidal, both attacking seperate mobs, getting hit 600 every .8 consistantly.

you heal barb for 1.4k as you said? hes ok for now, BM gets hit around 1600 in the time that you take to cast pureheart, first of all your off by 200 for that, but he has sutra, forget about him. barb however now has to wait 8.5 seconds for a heal, he gets hit for 4080 in that time, so hes almost dead, and now BM take the same damage in that time, thanks to the switch, hes now good and dead

same situation with ironheart

you would heal about 1100 over time with ironheart, now ironheart has a 1 second channel, and 1 second cast time, thats 2200 over time in the same time as a pure heart which heals for 1400, 800 more in the same time, not enough for you? after the switch to BM, your healing him for another 2200, 4400 in the same time pureheart does 2800, 1600 more in the same time, pureheart is a completely ineffective heal as shown by these numbers

I believe she was referring to her venomancer in particular being the mage build, not venomancers in general. That's what this thread is about anyway - your preferred armor choice for your characters.

I think that's what they call the paladin build? Something along the lines of a self healing tank and whatnot. I was debating on experimenting with this build, but I found myself to be too lazy to roll another cleric :P
