Wow...way to fail in Public Quest >.>'

So earlier I was doing Public Quest lv60-80 just for the fun of it, only to have it ruined by a few greedy players who decided to horde all the contribution points. This all happened at the pit with the Shamans. Right as it began, I see 2 Demon Sparks (one from a BM and one from a Sin) go off before a few mobs kick the bucket. I'm thinking "Wow...really?!?" The squad consisting of the 2 Demon players had a lv6x archer and a lv6x sin who were just standing there. It was no surprise that the lv6x archer and sin ended up in the top 2 slots by the end of the public quest.

It also came to the point where one of the returning players (for a second round of public quest) decided to call up a guildie to come kill mobs for her so that she can get a top rank as well. Using higher lvl players to finish in the top places doesn't justify the fact that they're ruining it for the others. It only causes others to believe that they can do the same and have someone else do the schlepping for them.

It just irks me that some players have to cheat at a mini-game that can be done by almost any class. If you can't do something so simple as killing mobs with players your own level, then why bother trying?

-Sorry, this is a lie, and we need not go further than this. You're jealous and if it isn't about the outside help, it would be about their CS equips or something else.

I have no need to be jealous when I can reach the top 5 against some of the other players who do public quest without having to rely on high lvl players. The use of outside help upsets the balance who is also trying to accumulate points. Public quest has a lv range for a reason.

What does CS equips have to do with this? If they have it, good for them.

Sorry, the public quest system, as exemplified by the nien event, is just kinda crappy and broken. Has been since the fish first arrived.

Oh, since the FISH arrived? You ought to be thankful considering people are too busy QQing about Assassins to remember the Nix'd venomancer. Oh, the things people used to say about THAT....

Just like everything else in this game, it takes understanding it and understanding your character. There's absolutely nothing you can really do about cheating with PQ's....it's been that way for a while.

To win this game, you either throw money at it, or you were here before people threw money at it, and you worked your @ss off. It's just that way these days.People are always looking for the easy way to do things, and taking advantage of higher level players. THIS is why I quit my Cleric. It's just too much these days.

Heh. The fish-arrival-huge-patch was the one that introduced the public-quest, is all.

And yes, thanks sins, for giving people something else to cry about :)

All I was saying is that public quest sucks, always has and probably always will.

Not much to say about the OP, but I just got one thing to mention about that QQ infantile form of emoticons. Stop being lame, lazy children and do the true crying smiley.

WoW has 11 Million people playing. 11 million people also bought the Sega Dreamcast console. Proof that 11 million people can collectively do something stupid.

    Seriously, wtf? That's terrible.

The proper emoticon is this: ಥ_ಥ totally swiped from Konariraiden's siggy

Regarding the original post, the fact of the matter is that thousands of players are far more effective at finding and exploiting flaws in the system than a handful of devs are. There is at least some evidence that feedback is being listened to, despite somewhat poor implementation. After all, the Nien Attack event did get its scoring broken up by class. The problem there was simply that different classes can still influence each others' score. Maybe the next attempt will do better.

(1)So earlier I was doing Public Quest lv60-80 just for the fun of it,
(2)only to have it ruined by a few greedy players
(3)who decided to horde all the contribution points.

(4)from 2+3 we conclude that they ruined it because they got the contribution points
since you say that they ruined it you mean that you wanted contribution points
therefore, (1), we can only conclude that by fun you mean contribution points (unless you are lying).

so, you either want contribution points to score high or you want the rewards.
since you said that it's just for fun i guess that you want to score high

so, if you judge that using high levels is cheating/should not be allowed etc you just have to
1)remove those ppl from the list in your mind, see that you came in top5 and be happy
2)or if you want others to notice that you came in the top5
a)expect that it wasnt only you that noticed that the other used high levels
b)use the common chat to say so

now, if you want the rewards too, sorry, but you are not doing pq for fun.
actually i think that even aiming to score high (to feel good or show off) is not "just for fun" but whatever.

    so, all in all, either
1)use the above methods to get your fun
2)admit you are not doing it just for fun
3)do the pq some other time
    4)Q.Q

imho, only #4 would really harm you

Now, about the "unfairness" of the pq for those that seek rewards
I never noticed higher levels helping and trust me, I did the pq a lot. One time i had ~3mil exp stacked in the bank. I wont deny that this happens and I saw some ppl doing it (i wasnt participating atm). Did that ruin my fun? No.
You can do pq so many times, why cant we all just live together and let everyone have some fun?

oh, and OP, never and I repeat, never do the nien event. the universe will end because of your screams xD

It is always possible in this game to have high levels do your work for you. From the sound of this story these people were using multiple computers to bring their low level chars up fast by squadding with their mains.

I agree that it sucks, the devs would do well to limit the conrtibution points accumualted by squads to the ones gained by 60-80 lvl only.

Is that likely to happen? no

Are the devs likely to see this? no

Are you likely to make it to level 81 anyway? yes, when you do you can say goodbye to those idiots because you can't multi-box in gamma or fc, there everyone carries their own weight or dies!
