Hey fellow clerics,

I would just like to ask whether you use HP charms. I'm not asking whether you think it is needed or not (though you can state it in your reply if you like), but whether personally you equip them :)

Personally I like having one on because it is one less party member to worry about (haha), but now I am worried I have grown too dependent on it b:surrender I like having a safety net!

Sorry if it has been asked before!

I dont have one equipped 24/7, but I do use and above all, abuse them. I do agree that during quests in the earlier levels, it made me lazy. Cause I would just let it tick, instead of casting 1 or 2 IH's inbetween attacks. Now when I wear one it is a remain from TW.

Once in a while an HP charm would probably save my cleric's life..
but more than 80% of that charm will most likely go to waste as it will often tick half a sec before my wellspring surge lands.. or because I start getting lazy (knowing im charmed) and I let it tick instead of healing myself ...

HP charms are pretty much useless for clerics. We can heal ourselves, and if a charm tick "saves" us from getting one-shotted, guess what? We'll get two-shotted instead, thats all, unless we're in a squad with lightning fast reflexes that ALWAYS pay attention to the cleric (lmao).
In squads, HP charms are annoying for 3 reasons:
    1. They mess up my heal timing.
    2. People who have them are more reckless =.=;
    3. When some people's charms tick, they rage at me

HP charms have saved my life many times (spam-healing party members and don't see the mob hitting me for a couple seconds, or trying to escape from a group of too many mobs at once, etc). However, yeah, I'll definitely agree they're a safety net. One I try not to grow dependent on, but there is a certain complacency in wearing charms... either mp or hp.

That said, they do make healing the party a good chunk less stressful for everyone. After all, if another party member isn't charmed and you didn't/couldn't heal them in time, you can just rez them after the hubbub has died down. But if you're not charmed, and you can't heal yourself in time... you get to either waste a 50k rez scroll or do the Run of Shame all the way back from town.

I use it for PK. For general PvE, having a HP charm feels like more of a waste than anything else unless I just feel like being really lazy.

i agree 100% with paramedic, and reichle's reasons are exactly right. it sure would be nice if pwi would make charms able to be unequipped, or at the very least (as a good friend of mine suggested) let us adjust the % hp or mp when they tick. b:victory

Lol, 10% charm tick would be interesting!

But thanks so much for the replies :D Guess the general consensus is no charms, though I still really like having a HP one haha. My reasons are almost exactly what Flickerfae said. My current guild likes to be a bit suicidal during instances just because, and I love them so I equip one because I love my exp more b:chuckle

Also, charms let me test out the new quests I have just to see if I can do them with low risk. For example, recently, I tried the last quest in the tideborn treasure chest hunt where you have to kill this huge boss... oh boy, I loved my charm then while escaping from that angry guy lol!

But I agree HP charms get burned unnecessarily a lot (Don't want to think about MP charms) sadly :< (Has 1371 left on her charm)

Depends on where I'm going if I have a charm or not. General grinding and bh I don't, but if I'm going to FCC without a veno I put one on in case a mob is out of the barb's aggro range (no bramble to deflect attack, thus no auto-aggro for barb during pulling process). Bishops also 2-hit me without a charm on bishop boss in FCC when plume shell is on cool down. Also depends on how much I trust squad to see mobs coming and to attack it before I need to heal them.

I always have on my cleric. Becuase we have the ability to heal i find that it lasts a long time and for me is a good investment. It doesnt tick often unless in pvp but it comes in very handy when doing tt, gv's and some of the higher fbs where the bosses aoe alot. I wont go without an hp charm in tt 3-2 and 3-3 b:chuckle

I use one in TW almost always (stops me being one shotted so much lol), and in most of the very rare TTs that I do... other than that, yeah it's nice if I have one, but I'm not dependant on it.

I agree with this. I can get one platinum charm and it will last me for months, because I have the ability to heal myself. And a tick isn't as big a deal, because it's not like a tank with massive amounts of HP ticked off every time. When I'm in an instance, I pay much closer attention to others than to myself, and the charm makes it so I have a chance to notice and react to being attacked without dying.

Just like American Express, I don't leave home without one.

Although I don't actually have an Am-Ex card.

But yeah, one gold charm will last me well over a month - and will save my backside several times in that period. Not to mention save my squad from a wipe occasionally. If I died due to an aoe or taking aggro in the course of saving a party member and that causes a party wipe when a charm could have saved me, that's on my head. Much like carrying res scrolls, I consider being charmed in difficult instances part of the job.

It is a necessity for TW. You're severely gimped without it in outdoor PvP. And it's completely worthless in PvE.

I am about 95% of the time HP charm equipped. Mainly because I put one on for TW and it lasts throughout the week. Depending on the TW, I can have a Plat HP charm one for about 1-2 weeks at a minimum...

I have a Gold HP charm, and it's lasted me a couple months so far. I don't use MP charms (anymore, after 75), and the HP charm is a lifesaver. I still have the habit of casting a stack of IH's, so it doesn't tick the charm too much (if at all), and when it DOES tick, I'm grateful it's there. I've got the TB plat HP charm in my bank yet, and I'll equip that after a while. I love them. I don't get reckless with it, so I figure it's a good thing, for me.

A heal that's instant and doesn't require the cleric to stop healing whoever they're healing, doing whatever they're doing, doesn't cost them valuable MP, and has no casting/channeling time? Yes please.
