Delete Without Wait

Don't go thinking this is for all characters, only characters still young enough for you to use the Modify button on the char select screen. Say you make a character one class but you changed your mind and want it a different class, but oh damn the name you want is now taken for one week If the character is that young it really has nothing of value on it, so there's no logical reason to have that waiting thing on it, all it does is try your patience.

Again I say this thread doesn't apply to characters that have been around long enough to have any value, this is simply so people don't have to wait a week to change their new character's class if they happen to change their mind.

You can't use a name twice, once used you can never name another character this name.

But well, yeah would be useful if you've the ability to delete a just-created character within 3 days.

But ontopic: if you just delete and forget about it, you won't even notice it anymore and then it's gone

Silvy is wrong. It used to be that you could only use a name once, even if it was deleted. But at some point they changed it so now you can.

If it's in the modify period I don't see the problem with it, actually.

I think the week long wait for deletion under normal circumstances is perfectly fine. Say someone's angry at you and hacks your account? They could delete your high level character, BUT there's a week long waiting period for deletion. The wait is a security measure, working alongside the Security Question and your email security, your bank password, and other PWI security measure it protects your account from being ****** up by hackers. I REALLY don't want the weeklong wait to be shortened. I simply believe that with a new character still on the Modify period, there's really no point for security measures because that character has very little or no value. If you think the weeklong wait should be removed altogether please go make your own thread because that is not what this thread is about.

Well, to my opinion, perhaps making all character levels below 20 able to delete without the week probation would be reasonable, but I also support EbilBecca's point of view. Patience makes a good virtue and shorten the probation to 2-3 days wouldn't hurt either, just in case the alt is holding something expensive. Like you said, everyone makes mistakes and who knows they might delete something that could be valueable?

How many level 20's have all the rare items and money from older characters which they gave up on? Very many.

\\You didn't understand me here. I'm asking for levels 20 and below for the 2-3 day probation delete, but didn't state a change for those being above 20. The 2-3 days being the reason why to double check for the valueables being deleted as well.\\



All the more reason for it to last a week. You might not remember until it's already deleted.

\\This is why PW fail in this area to remind people they have characters on probation and that PW has no responsibility over anything on that character being deleted unless it is a **** issue.\\

GohanX, I honestly have no problem with the 1 week probation. Just because I didn't like character A and want character B to have that same name as character A, having a 1 week punishment or wait time is reasonable enough because that was my fault I created character A that way. I am thankful that PW even lets me have a name with such a short period of wait time. In other games, I am not even allowed to have a same name character if Character A had been deleted. Some I have to wait 3 months, or even longer.

You brought this suggestion up, yes there may be people who misunderstood, and yes, do expect people who gives negative feedback. It lets you see the negative part of your suggestion too. Not saying right away delete should be improvised or untouched, as a similar suggestion had been brought up before. Nobody had any problems with that 1 week probation. I'd say, suck it up and live with it. 1 week isn't going to kill you. There are so many other cool names to pick and choose too.

I don't have a problem with any of it I just made the suggestion because I was making a character and got to thinking o.o I tend to think to much when I'm bored. I know one week won't kill me in fact I never have to put up with it because I've deleted a character only once.

thats not altogether true, I used to have a BM named Crispy_Gin but after I deleted it I named a shop Crispy_Gin a short time after, about a week or 2. Also if you make a tiny change in the spelling it works there are already characters named Dr_Zoidberg DrZoidberg and Dr_Zoidberg_ and only the last one is mine.

That or a character level 20, maybe even 30, or under. 30 might be pushing it. But I don't think this is a bad idea at all.

I completely understand where you're coming from, believe that. But I also agree that level 20 would probably be too much. Heck, it took me a long time to make 20 the first time I played, so that's a pretty huge window of opportunity to cheese someone off. Someone that hates you.

My recommendation would be level 5. You're too small at that level to have amassed anything of any real worth, so you're not just deleting to farm in some weird sort'a way, and it also give you a big enough window to get a feel for a class. Ish. Or at least decide you hate the character's looks/class/whatever.

Whaddaya think? Does that seem about right? It's not limited by days, as the appearance-tweaking timeframe would be, but it's also not so high as to be unreasonable. Right?

Yes I know this is an inactive thread... Why can't we just delete the .txt file for our characters in the PWI folder? I mean, if most customizations are text file based, we shouldn't be able to do that.
