Points allocation for PURE axe?

Ive been reading in pretty much every thread in the BM section about how fantastic the axe/fist path is and that is all good for those that want to go down that route...

But I LOVE axes and the AOE and I dont really want anything to do with any of the other paths. Im on a PVE-server and I only plan to do PVE with questing and alot of instancerunning. What Im thinking about now is how to spend the skillpoints to get the most bang for the buck for pure axe. I have vit at 65 and dex around 85 with everything else in strength (Im level 68).

What would benefit me more. Go 3str/2dex, 4str/1dex or even go 5str/0dex every level? Should I just get the minimum dex to be able to use the axes at my current level?

Ive already farmed Calamity axes of Blood refined to +6 with +125accuracy and +40attack gems. Also got full TT70 gear refined +3 with HP+40 gems all around. So as I figured it I wont be needing any more vit.

I did read a guide somewhere that strength is better then dex (crit) in the long run. But I dont know if Im gimping myself in the long run if my crit turns out to low?

Any feedback would be wonderful.

Get minimum dex for your axes and dump rest into Str. Dex honestly doesn't make that much difference in PvE, and if you feel you need more accuracy there are always Misties around. And as a pure Axe you have low crit and slow attack speed either way so your reliance should be on raw power.

I think adding strength will get you the most damage you can get with axes. That being said, you're gimping yourself only using one weapon path. Axes are great for aoe and spike damage, and they have an extra stun. Those are all very useful in the right situations. Problem is, you're not always in those situations. To be able to tank or deal damage effectively on bosses, you will want to branch out. I'd think at the very least you should stat so you can use swords at your level, and it will help your accuracy as well. But if you intend to only use axes, add strength and definitely get some mistys.

As of now Im extremely satisfied with just being a onepath BM and Ill be dumping all my skillpoints into strength from now on to see what happens :) BUT I will be trying fist out eventually. So I was thinking about how you guys go about it during a fight? Do you change weapons during a fight to use all the skills? Like start of with axes and Highlandcleave, Fissure, blah blah and then swith to claws so you can shadowless kick? Do you use macros for it or do you just button click and drag the weapons to your combatbar?

Hehe, started this thread less than a month ago and reading it now almost scares me...

Thought Id update it a bit.

Pure axe was scratched and I reset all my vit back to 5. Im now at level 77 wielding +5 Dark Flashes (bought them for 700k, almost cried...) and +5 Calamities. I have Skywarriors decomposed and all mats for Buddhas at 80. Picked up 3 star bracers with +0.5 int on them for nothing at AH (level 54 or whatever but blah blah :P )

I abolutely love being Axe/Fist. I steal aggro like a **** even when I autoattack if the Barb aint Fleshing but hey its all good fun :)

Being able to use both faboulous aoe with axes, like when grinding Hooded Adawolves north of Dreamweaver, sprint -->get 7-8 of them and then aoe away (xp just flies even without hypers) or going fists and doing whatever without much problems. Im glad I took people here advice and went for fists too.

    Thanx all b:victory

a lil sugestion, when ur high lvl like 90+, aim for getting all weapon paths that way u are more viable for different situations, pole for runner mobs, sword... its up to u to get it cuz the only good about it is its myriad, axe u alrdy have and rmr to get lotsa interval gear for fist xD they WILL OWN when used on bosses, constant spark, 1v1 etc....b:victory
