Every once and a while I come across a drop that makes me say "Oh wow, this thing would be really good if it weren't such a piece of ****." What I mean is, the normal weapons and armor that are doomed to be inferior simply because Legendary and TT items exist. The kinda feeling you get when you make a belt with -6% channeling or 1% crit, but the belt adds 15 friggin' physical defense and makes your friends point and laugh at you when you wear it.


So I'm curious: what's the best piece of **** you've ever stumbled upon? This also means no end-game items allowed, so no level 12 equips that offer a stat that it's legendary counterparts do NOT; that makes it a matter of preference that decides which is better, so it's not a piece of ****. It's gotta be something that does a damn good job of competing with the legendaries BUT just doesn't quite cut it, or it's gotta be a really low equip with really pro random stats.


Here's my wonderful example:
***Goose Down Spear (2 sockets)

Lvl. 8 Pike

Lvl. 65
HP +145
Physical attack + 42
Maximum Endurance +150%



Damn thing makes me wanna make a Spear BM just so I can run around screaming "AW HELL JA YOU JUST GOT GOOSE DOWN'ED!!"


....And yet it's been sitting in the auction house unbought for almost a week. b:sad

    My hat is a level 81 Hat of the Promised Land with 3 sockets and 3 Phys Res +69 stats on it. Does that count? b:chuckle

    It has three beautiful citrines in it too, but those didn't come in the drop, so.

    Meh, hats and capes are kinda...I dunno. There's not really many legendary options anyways. I mean, you wear that hat, right?

    I'm talking about items that you end up NPCing cause they don't quite make the cut, yet you hate to just throw away the item cause it's kind of awesome.

    I enjoy collecting ★★★ magic weapons. I have a whole bunch of them waiting to be used but it knows it will never be used because it's going to be outclassed by other weapons.

    But having them in my inventory makes me feel cool and safe in case I need repairs for my main weapon in TTs, BHs, etc. It has its uses but rarely. b:cry

    ☆Pisces' Tail Handaxes with Sacrificial Strike. <- Maybe if I had a BM or Barb, they'd be useful.
    ☆Thunderclap Shot with -0.10 Interval Between hits. <- Wind and the Clouds Lite. Breeze and the Fog?
    ☆Serendipitous Boots with 2x+0.2 m/s running speed. <- Actually used these up until 85
    ☆☆☆Ring of the Defeated with +2% crit. <- Ring of the Heavenly Lord Lite

    Also, numerous ☆☆Vapor Willows with a -0.05 Interval Between Hits modifier, because they've got 2 or 3 resists, useless other modifiers, and no sockets.

    A regular lvl 60 something arcane wrist guard with -6% channeling, +0.30 maximum speed, and +300 MP. I didn't get to buy it back then. b:sad

    I once crafted level 6x Light Armour bracers that had -6% channelling on them.

    Since I was LA back then, it worked out nicely. But -chan for typical archer armour...b:chuckle

    ☆☆☆ L81 helmet with 2x reduced requirement, +298 metal resist, and 3 sockets.

    I didn't realize at the time that the 2x reduced requirement lets archers wear it without putting extra points into str, and sold it for 50k.

    I got a nice drop in BH69, lvl 7x evasion belt with 2x HP120 Vit +5. Too bad it is not physical def belt b:sad

    Dude, you know what we need? A "so far today I..." thread. Something where people can report finds like this, or good finds, or other actual accomplishments. :P

    Anyway, on topic:

    When my main was in his 20s he experimented with crafting. One weapon I was most proud of was a Doublestrike Crossbow with Toughen and two other bonuses. Only later did I realize that I'd basically made the Trial Crossbow. XD

    I'm sure there are lots of other examples for me, but my memory is such that I can't remember any of them. The latest interesting piece of gear I found was: ✩Gentleman's Amulet with +2 Vit, +3 Vit, +2 Vit. My veno wears it as she is in sore need of Vit boosts (being LA).
    Endurance + X. Talk about a useless stat.
    Endurance, I'm pretty sure, saves you money on repair costs.

    Because the price of the item doesn't go up, right? So more damage to the weapon is just applied over a greater period of time for the same repair costs.

    This doesn't sound important for a cleric - and it's not - but for something like, say, Barbarian armor, I would suspect it helps a lot. :P

    I remember back on my alt, I got an evasion belt as a drop:

    Now, I usually NPC all evasion accesorries since they are useless. However, this one had HP+60 and Unidentified x2, so I decided to identify them to see what came out for the heck of it.

    I got mighty surprised when the two unidentified stats came out HP+60 and HP+60. Which made it a lvl 45 belt with +180 HP b:laugh

    Still, since its evasion, its hard to sell it in the AH as no one bothers to look for evasion belts.. I placed it in the AH three times, and it sold for (I think) 125k b:victory

    Definitely the most 1337 piece of **** I ever got ^^

    I use a level 41 Arcane headgear with +7 vit, +69 pdef and 4 sockets...too bad it wasn't a higher level so I could put way better shards in it, the low level makes it a 1337 piece of **** b:surrender

    first my rings.. Thunderclap ring +80hp +60hp

    Ring of the defeated 1% crit +4 vit +80 hp

    Ring of the defeated 27 phy attk X2 +105 hp

    i had like 3 helms 3* lvl 81 with lots of phy res and hp, but i npced yesterday lol

    my helm +4 vit +105 hp +298 metal ress =D, and i has more stuff like that lol
