You can buy the book but that'll cost you mils too, which kind of defeats the purpose of not spending on crafting. It is much more predictable than hoping for 2* while crafting.

Someone did tell me that if you try to craft the necessary items with a full Chi bar, it will give you a higher success rate, can anyone confirm this?

    Wow. That's complete, 100%, unmitigated BS. b:fatb

There are fixed odds of producing ☆, ☆☆, and ☆☆☆ items based on your level. For example, at level 44 your odds of producing the ☆☆Sawtooth Blades you'd need for Blacksmith IV is 30%. See the PWDB entry here. In other words, expect to make 3 or 4 on average before getting one. I got to level 4 on all of my crafting skills, and out of the nine ☆☆s I needed to craft, three I got on the first try, while one of them took 12 tries. b:shocked

The "someone" who told you that is most likely committing a logical fallacy called "post hoc ergo propter hoc", which basically means "after this, therefore because of this". They see Event A happened (getting full chi in this case) and then Event B happened (getting a ☆☆ item), so they falsely assume that Event A caused Event B. In this case, that is not true.

You can see a few other common PWI myths at the wiki on the Myths and Misinformation page.

Shouldnt cost you too much if you make a mat farming alt to get the materials. I know the mats drop frequently if you are the mob's level.
The chillum is sometimes referred to as a chalice, based on a quote from the Biblical book of Deuteronomy. Thanks and praises are offered to Jah before smoking the chillum.

You make the comment "I have the mats already...." etc which I find interesting. How many mats do you have? Two of my level 4's went pretty well but the blacksmith I think it was, took over 200 rough fur - and these I obtained by grinding non-stop during the last 2 x promotion - doing it when not 2 x drops would be a nightmare.

Also ask yourself why you want the high crafts in the first place. I always wanted mine so that I could decompose drops for my genie/wings etc, but then a hgh level player informed me that in OHT (80+ instance) the drops can be decomposed with level 1 crafting skills, and that is how most high levels get the stones for their genies. I havent heard this confirmed but the person was adamant.
