Questions on Lvl 85 weapon + misc questions

Heyo,

I've been having a tough time deciding on whether I want to try for the Gatherstorm (chance at recovering 5% hp and increasing damage) or the Pan Gu axe (shield)...I hear the gatherstorm is great all around weapon, and that the Pan Gu is probably the best tanking weapon. I can't afford both so I have to choose.

I like to tank, I have a tank(ish) build...but I think I may be going demon rather than sage.

This is due to a number of reasons. 1)I feel like my damage has not really changed that much and its starting to irritate me for some reason.

2) I've checked out the differences between sage and demon skills and I feel like the demon skills give me more of a damage boost without sacrificing my tanking ability too much.

3) With the latest patch, you can switch between demon and sage so...should I want to change that option is available to me.

4)I can always refine my character for more pdef/hp in order to increase my survivability as a tank, but I feel like after a certain amount of HP...theres really no need to get like 20K+. Is there any truth to this or am I just theorizing incorrectly here?

Questions for you guys: What are the general prices of the Gatherstorm and Pan Gu on your servers?

Which would you prefer?

Edit: Was wondering, because like I said I like to plan in advance...the differences between TT90 HA and OHT HA...I really like how OHT looks, but is there any striking differences you higher barbs have noticed from using them? I know ones Gr. 11 and ones Gr. 12...but aside from that, whats really the deal breaker?

I have the Pan Gu's Giant Axe and I love it. (Sage barb here.) It cost me 35mill, but just days afterward it was selling for 23mill. (GRRRR!) And it took me a long time to save up that coin too!

The Shield of Chi is helpful and being a sage barb I have no problem generating chi. Further, it refines fairly well and deals decent damage.

From what I've read about the Gatherstorm it seems to be a really nice weapon as well, but I don't know enough about it to comment.

Pan Gu is most definitely the best tanking weapon since the chi shield reduces all damage whereas Gatherstorm is a great weapon to grind with.. With storm you wont be needing any pots and its hp regen will almost always keep ur hp bar full, so you can use ur sparks to better use than Sunder to regain your hp.. Mind you, this is entirely PvE-wise..

PvP-wise neither of them is a "great" weapon since we barbs have to rely on zerk damage or tt99/tt100 weapons to make a difference in the damage output.. But if you still want to compare the two axes then Gatherstorm is better with its +str and crit bonus..

Both axes sell for around 23 mil.. Sometimes storm goes for 28 mil (if it drops less in FCs)

Yes refining is probably the best way to gain the HP since investing more in Vit doesn't scale well endgame.. And yes, for PvE purposes (not TWs) anything around 17k tiger form is good enough to stay alive in instances.. Infact, some might say that even 15k (with a decent amount of pdef n mdef) would be enough if you've a good cleric and if you use the right skills to tank/reduce damage..

As a side note: If you really want to PvP alot then refines and weapons are your friends, if you just wanna be the ninja armageddoner get a zerk weapon and some massive HP b:chuckle

I happened across a Gatherstorm, 1 socket clean for 9mill. I'm not that rich so I bought it, I mean it will do me well for now. I put a perfect garnet on it, and refined it to +4...I think if I save some more I might be able to get a Pan Gu as well

Did I get that Gatherstorm for a steal on Sanctuary or is that the general price for 1 socket ones?

Updated initial post with questions re: OHT armour and TT90 armour.

in spite of OHT's higher grade, TT90 has far better base stats for phys and mag defence, and has a few other perks as well, such as:

You get 2-4 sockets with TT, 0-4 with OHT

You know what adds you will have on your armor with TT, and TT90 is your first really good set of TT armor pretty much all around. The odds of getting a whole set of OHT with even halfway decent adds kinda sucks, and then even if you do, you could end up w no sockets.

You can wear all of your TT90 set at lvl 90. OHT adds a peice per lvl after 90, so will have to wait longer to wear complete set.

IF you get a really good peice of OHT they will refine a little better. And they do look cooler. Thats about it.

Aha...I see...I still have a few levels to mull this over, so in your overall recommendation is TT90 then?

Pretty much a large amount of people go TT90.


TT90 armor gives nice stats, plus you need for the souledge for TT99 Gold too.
