Which build should I make my Venomancer?

I want to start a venomancer and I've read a few guides but I'm stuck trying to decide what build to make it. I don't understand why with HA you'd need to be in Fox Form most of the time and I don't want a lower level weapon because a lot of my points would be going to str. Light armor to me seems to suck, its pretty much weak against both magic and physical. And I don't want to get one shot by everything in the game and it seems that most venomancers go with robes.
So which build is the best?
Is there any way to have heavy armor and have high defense in both magic and physical?
Any opinions/tips from experienced venomancers?

Just read this guide: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=234672
It's the easiest to follow from lvl 1. and yes its the arcane build.
Don't worry about the heavy/arcane build till lvl 70... if that.... I choose to put it off till lvl 90.
If your that interested in foxform, go light armor from lvl 1 1 str, 1 dex, and 3 magic per lvl. Then if you still like foxform after lvl 80 or 90, restat to the Ha/AA build. Or if you hate to, restat to arcane, and shard with garnets for phys def.>.<0 -
Well this is a question we've never seen before in this forum.
But basically it's best to start out as arcane or la. You can restat to HA around lvl80(that's what I did). You can get decent mag def but main objectives are: hightower phy def, and better phy attack. Contrary to popular belief LA doesn't suck you just need to make sure your stat points count. Also wear only rings with crit+ and same for weps. Leave channel to olur ornaments, shard only with cristines, and as in any build REFINE!!!!!
Really any build should work, just that some use different parts of your skill more. I love my fox skills and I'm able to debuff and curse ppl even in a cloud of physical aoe's. But I don't hit as hard as I did when I was arcane/ was LA as well.
Hope his helped.0 -

You magic attack definately isnt going to be as high as a pure-mage build veno, but you'll definately be doing more damage than a vit-arcane veno. Simply because both your magic and mellee attacks do significant damage, where as a vit-veno would probably only be using magic attacks that hit around the same as you.>.<0 -
Your right Ms hop to it. I never really thought about that especially the extremist vit mag who but minimum mag and str in and rest is vit(kinda like a bar only with barb it would be minikin str a d dex rest being vit) the only way vit veno's work is if they can shard their gear with phy defence stone, probably not just flawless, would need to be immacs at least or even perfects. But that's just my opinion.0

i'm doing my best to be honest and well I think heavy is the best way to go. I know they say wait it off until your a higher lvl but if you know what your doing work around it <.< do the bare minimum for your magic weapons and work your way up on your strength. it's really difficult but once u get to the point where other can pk you it comes in handy!!!!!! you are less dependent on your pet too. and to put it plain and short... sortof..... me, personally, I would rather be able to take hits just in case my pet either dies or a monster or pker sneaks up on me. im strong with or without my pet and thats because of heavy build b:victory0

i can't help thinking that trying to build a HA veno right from the start would get hideously expensive, having to constantly search for stat-add equipment through all the lower levels. that's probably why people recommend you wait until later, when you'll keep equipment longer and have an easier time replacing it because you'll have more coin in the first place.
as for being able to take hits... i capped my vit at 50 and i try to shard with phys def and HP; that's enough to survive PvE relatively easily, even as a robe wearer. i'd likely get clobbered in PvP, of course, but inexperience and not knowing how to play that game would likely have as much to do with that.
i really don't know what i'd do if i had to build a veno from start on a PvP server. likely i'd go LA/AA and hope to get to higher levels quickly.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -
Increased survival comes at a cost of slower killing. Most mobs at same level won't be one shotting you with pure mag unless you're behind on equips. Swap defense equips work great for times in need.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0

No this is where tweakz and I differ as he like a pure mag 1str.9 mag every other lvl with good sharding and refines.I prefer the hybrid of 1str.2vit 7 mag every other lvl to give you more vit for survivability. This is different for a Cleric as they got better heals. When it comes to Venos best to throw in some vit and on your genie have second wind, wind shield and some sort of purify.
When it come to Pets tweakz and I agree.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -

I could disagree with this, because it seems every statement you bring up a herc, and don't give any credit to other free pets. Basically it seems you use herc for everything and have this mentality that everyone else needs to also. At the very least, Tweakz gives credit to other pets with value like, an eldergoth for ranged tanking/luring, and a scorpion or darkwanderer for DD. I never see you giving credit to any of those pets. But correct me if you do.>.<0 -

Actually, I agree perfectly. I have 105 base vit, and that's exactly what I do. I have always sharded pdef and look for +mag (#1), +pdef (#2), and -channel (#3) on my armors and weapons. I'm not adding vit anymore though, the 105 was actually kind of an accident, and I have 30 vit from my noob days. One day when I stop buying fashion I'll buy a reset and get rid of it, xD But I want 100 base vit, and dump the 5+25 points into magic.
PWI calc won't let me save my build but I'd like to post it. Anyway, I can get over 7k pdef, buffed and in fox, and I have 6.3k hp, with +3 refines on main armor only xP I love my build.
@OP:
The only way to have the best of both worlds is to improve your gear. Pick what you want to stat, and then make up for your weaknesses via your gear. Want to go pure? Either use high refines or HP stones to make up for HP, and look for pdef and HP mods on your gear. Want to go vit arcane? Don't bother with HP mods if you can help it, look for +magic and +pdef. an LA looks for +hp mostly, and it's wise to look for +crit and +pdef too. HAs look for any +stats that will help them wear armor, and they use refines and HP stones to make up for not being able to stat vit.
Veno is not a walkthrough-ready class. You really have to decide what you want to do with it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I have mentioned other pets like Marksman and Lunar Lupin and the 59 Scorpion whiich I do have btw and I really like my Snow Hare being bunny Veno more of side kick than pet.I would want to invest to much in them skill wise as I would my Veno only ones I would be snow hare and possibly lupin.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0
