where do i get the materials for blacksmithing and all that nice stuff? i can't find the pig iron for blacksmithing and it's going to bother me. i really really need those items to make equipment and what not.
could someone help me?

    First, you need a pickax (purchasable from any merchant.)
    Next, look around outside the city for iron ore (for pig iron), withered tree roots (for logs), sandstone rock (for sandstone) and rough coal stacks (for rough coal.) The other crafting ingredients (grease, animal fur, cotton thread and organic glue) are dropped by mobs, and are generally harder to obtain.

    You have to be lvl 5 to do this though.

    Level 5 to learn the crafting skills... level 1 to start gathering, if you can get a pickaxe somehow.
