Although my biggest upset is the Tiger Vendor. That thing is probably the best vendor to date, it sucks that they're not permanent b:cry

I think everyone's a little miffed about that. I'd love to win one myself but I fear I wouldn't use it because I would want it to disappear after a week. b:sad

I have to agree with something I saw posted earlier though... the event is great, but for Europeans it's also a bit... eh. Forum clock seems wrong to me, too.

(Claims GMT -8, yet it's never eight hours behind me and I live in GMT.
For example, it's now 07:15 AM here. GMT -8 should mean it's 11:15 PM server time. Yet it's 10:15 PM. AKA... GMT -9 unless you guys have some weird thing going with DST.)

The whole event times thing always throws me but as I understand it, Dreamweaver is on EST which is GMT minus 5 hours so:

    4pm EST = 9pm GMT
    9pm EST = 2am GMT

Haven`t read 2 last pages, so these may have come up already, but about the Nien beasts, they are on west archo gate, south of RT and on 3 old starting cities, head for the starting camp of the race, you should meet the nien beast on your way.

The reason why I myself failed first time was that I didn`t talk to starting npc twice, seems like it has been the problem for most ppl.

And about solo/squad choices, if you have some real OP DDs in faction, they can take ppl with not godly DD and still do well, while that "extra" person "leeches" contribution from others. But on most cases, high DDs rank better on solo, while ppl with rather poor DPS should try to find squads. But you can also think it this way, if you take barb on high DPS squad and rank him high, you know him likes you and I heard you ppl like it when you can ask barb for a favor in return :).

For GMs, this event is great, yet it`s too confusing for the first time. You should add more specific instructions next time, if you are pulling something like this again. And when ppl want more European based time for event, I think the 4pm one is that, though on west servers it`s totally rubbish for Europeans, I think you`d assume them to stay on east servers. With the new Archosaur server that`s not the case, yet I do need to thank for the convenient time on east servers, was it intended or not, I`m happy for the fellow Europeans on east servers. I myself stay in archo, though I got no problem with the event being on insane hours of my time.

Ps. Rank 7 on barbs on second try(if you count the try where I didn`t get a single con. point as I didn`t talk to npc twice, lmao), solo :). Still some barbs did a lot better on last event, I got quite lot to learn about this event myself.

Archosaur - Outside west gate on the road towards the mines
City of the Lost - Outside south gate
Raging Tides - Outside south gate
Plume - Just over the western bridge (Highwind Bridge)
Ether - Outside the southwestern gate
There you go. Also added a bit about the Archosaur Nien, since people apparently have trouble finding it.

    Another thought about squads:
The rankings are by class, but contribution is split in a squad equally. Certain classes tend to get contribution much faster than others, notably well-geared Assassins and Fist BMs. Thus, if you have a squad with say, an Assassin and a Cleric, the Assassin won't do nearly as well as if they soloed, compared to other assassins, but the cleric will gain much more contribution than solo clerics do. Thus, you could essentially sacrifice a few ranks from the high DD in order to pull the non-DD into a high ranking for their class.

Yeah, I figured this yesterday when I first played the event (and sadly slept through the 9PM even today because I felt sick) but still, the times are a bit of a throw off.

I was more commentating on the fact the forum time claims GMT -8, yet as it stands at the moment it's -9. >> Again I figure that it's just something funky going on with DST, but it still kind of confused me.

And you know, I saw you yesterday at the event in South. I don't know why I didn't say hi at the time. b:chuckle

I think the forums just didn't "spring forward" in spring like they were supposed to, since I believe it's supposed to be even with west coast time and that's an hour ahead of what the forums say.

Which would be something funky with DST I guess. b:chuckle

Yeah, I have a friend living in GMT -8 as well and he's honestly 8 hours behind. xD However, the GMs might want to consider updating their forum to fit with GMT -8 and incorporate DST by this point, because a lot of people use the forum clock.

Wel... "a lot". Maybe they thought it didn't matter since they moved it right to gawd damn bottom of the forums. >_>

I finally tried the event today, and I thought it was lots of fun. My only compliant is the instruction on what to do. I talked to the NPC twice, because that's what guildmates warned me to do, but it still didn't work for me in the end. I got to a mailbox in the allowed time, clicked the quest thing, said mission accomplished and nothing.
    Maybe I just didn't score enough. :3

    Cause Bebo vry nab kitty.

After being instructed on how to update my (apparently 2.5 year old graphic drivers) I managed to do the even with way less lag. Had fun on the last two parts, couldn't cast fast enough in the first part to get much in the way of kills so I just farmed flowers :P

Did poorly, but still got a gift box - but the Nein quest wouldn't leave my quest list :(

    I didn't see you.

Having said that, it's not surprising since I have Best Performance selected and hardly see anyone in amongst my tab > kill > tab > kill frenzy.....

The first stage of it reminds me of the Wraith attack chaos...... which I enjoy....

Actually I think I only saw you as I stood next to you on my veno. Then I decided I would fair better on my higher level archer and I switched.

But I'm still kicking myself I didn't say hi or anything, but pffft. Maybe next time.

I did poorly my first round. xD I had no idea what I was doing at all so I was running between NPCs and trying to get to the captains, but they were all dead when I found one, and then I had no idea where the final Nien spawns were and.... yeah...

    .... man that went badly...

You don't have to kill for all your contribution points. In fact, at lower levels I'd recommend against it. You can pick up several hundred by doing the talk-to-NPCs quests and the wait-5-minutes quests, and another several hundred by farming the Pinetree Shade herbs or whatever that spawn during the event. Those are worth 50 contribution each, and the (fairly strong, so be careful) quest mobs that occasionally spawn from them are 150 each.

I love this event too. It's very gratifying to not only compete with, but finish ahead of, heavily cash-shopped archers with +10 Lunar/Nirvana bows, using my +6 Wind and the Clouds. I've consistently been in the top 5 archers on my server, despite my complete lack of cash-shopping and relatively low level.

I do agree that it's rather unbalanced in favor of higher level players, but in my mind the fact that it's an enjoyable, free, non-cash-shop related event outweighs that.

^ Good example for the whiners about dying/people stealing your kills/and not being a cash shopper. All you need is a bit of common sense and to experiment a bit.

@ Brigid; I'm going to find you tonight! Going to concentrate more on the outside line of DDs instead of the people up close to the Nein Beast. b:cute

I missed the first one or two so by the time I started, some people already knew what to expect so I essentially followed the crowd for where to go.

I'd also read up on the forums about them to avoid one or two pitfalls like not talking to the NPC twice at the start etc....

Question: I haven't browsed through the previous pages, so I don't know if this has been addressed yet. I was wondering, in regards to squading, do you get more contribution if your entire squad is focuses at ONE of the major city Niens, or does the squad get more as a whole if each member is at a different city?>,>?

one point for some having problems(didn't read all pages, lazy)

not just talking to him twice at the begining, talk to the mailbox twice at the end

alwas i get to the mailbox before luck is tallied, talk to the mailbox and accept, receive nothing yet of course, then talk a second time after the tally is complete and i get my packs

hopefully this helps some of you :)

This event is still very confusing to me. Ok, first the minions spawn. However, once the captains spawn, do you still receive contribution points for killing the minions, or just for the captains? Same with when the Neins spawn. Do you receive points for killing the minions after the Neins spawn or not? Also, are contribution points acquired from killing the mobs, or is it based on the amount of damage done to them?

Nope, with the exception of the ones that spawn from farming the Trinity of Winter herbs.

Both, in a way. The amount you get is based on the damage you do, but you don't get it until the mob dies.

I'm just wondering for the "trial of patience" how much does choosing the 2 minutes option give you? I know the 5 mins one gives you 300 contribution points, does the 2 min one give 200? b:question

    150, I believe. And it's 3 minutes, not 2.
