Ethereal Days

It's been a long time since the guild Ethereal existed. It was created sometime in December 2008 and went on to become one of the biggest guilds on the Lost City server in the following months up to its closure in March 2009. Being friendly to low level and casual players, Ethereal really was the hallmark of pre-60 PK-ing guilds back in the time when Conqueror, GuardianZ and a few other major 80+ guilds dominated the server.

Ethereal was always about freedom. Freedom to choose what to do, freedom to choose who to kill, freedom to decide when it's time to leave. Ethereal was the guild which continued to flourish no matter under whose leadership it was. It was the free will of its members that made Ethereal so special and ultimately so successful.

I decided to post a few screenshots from the days of my favourite guild. I do hope some of the people who are on these screens still look at the forums and perhaps we could talk of the old days. Even if no one cares I'd still like to share these screenshots with everyone else.

The following images are from a photo session that the core members had in the beginning of February 2009.

    Following are some PK-ing screens.

    20090226182742.th.jpg
This is Wanyudo (80+ at the time) from the guild Midgar getting ***** after he tried to kill our red violer.

    20090226194733.th.jpg
This is some random unguilded person who got killed because they rejected an invite to Ethereal.

    20090226224322.th.jpg
A barbarian with an HP charm. Pulled up quite a fight but the cash shop didn't save him from the "Go to town" button ("Release corpse" today).

Ethereal was closed but its spirit has lived on. I hope I'll see this guild again someday because I'm sure it can still contribute a lot to this game.

Is these also what making it end ? b:chuckle

Btw killing people that does not want to join wow that extreme, are we in bully era ? b:laugh
Like in old histories where kings looking for place to invade, and if the local people there not want to join they burned to death ? b:bye Hey its not freedom.

Ah, I like this, people jumping at what we've done even more than an year after the guild was closed. This makes me proud and I know we've really done the right thing. :)

I said that once you joined, you were free to do whatever you wanted to do. If you didn't join, how could you have that freedom, eh?

And Rawrgh, apparently you haven't played that long and you haven't paid that much attention to what was going on besides the big players like CQ, BLT, RQ, GZ, Int and a few others, which all had 70+ or 80+ requirements. Our guild didn't fight in TWs, it didn't really have the proper organization to do such things. Yes, it was pretty much a lowbie guild, but that's what made it so much fun. We actually had a lot of CQ members KOS-ing us personally because we were notorious for what we'd been doing.

I'll never regret my days at Ethereal, those were my best days of playing this game. There was so much passion...

    And Ghost_Eyes, I second that! :)

Guild was open from Dec 2008 to Mar 2009. 5 months ago there was no Ethereal, there hasn't been such a guild for over a year now.

And it closed because when our old leader left, the guy who inherited his position, although he was such a friendly and nice person and also a great PK-er, didn't really know how to lead it. He became afraid the minute his position changed from marshal to leader. He finally realized that our guild had made many enemies (we had 7-8 serious KOS guilds). However, instead of leading our guild in the right direction to solve these problems, he decided it'd be best if the guild closed down temporarily so that all of us could go to other guilds and level up in peace. Once we were higher levels, maybe we could go back to Ethereal and then the guild would make a surprise comeback. That never happened.

Mind you, we didn't really have any problems levelling up as part of Ethereal. Yep, we got PK-ed once in a while, but that happened to everyone else on LC too. What we did do, however, is that we never took levelling seriously and we always preferred to live for the moment. That's why many of us didn't level at all or levelled pretty slowly. I'm one of them. :)
