So I got this skill.....but its really hard to see its effect.....probably cause I am not using it on big enough bosses. After 30 seconds does it regain its hit points? Also does casting more then once benefit squad? Thank you:D

STA (SharpTooth Arrow) is primarily used at the very beginning of a boss fight to reduce the max HP of the boss by a very large amount, impossible by any other means. After the debuff has worn off, the boss's HP will not regain that lost max health, and casting more than once doesn't seem to be of much help.

The "Useful Archer links" topic which is stickied in this forums has a link to a detail explanation of how sharptooth works.

In short, sharptooth is cast first on a boss to reduce the max hp thereby indirectly reducing the hp as well.

    Boss has 100,000 hp

    After sharptooth
    Max HP = 84,000
Current HP = 84,000 - the Damage from hitting the sharptooth

    Once the timer wears off
    Max HP = 100,000
Current HP = 84,000 - the Damage from hitting the sharptooth - damage done by squad members.

At level one you wont notice a difference unless you use it on a world boss or something but what it does is this lets say that the boss has:

10,000 hp and you have a level 6 sharptooth(reduces boss's hp by 10%). You would use the skill and the boss would now have a max hp of 90,000 for 30 seconds when the 30 seconds are up though the boss wont recover that 10,000 hp it lost.

Casting it once only has one benefit and thats if the bos aoes. For example the drum master in tt1-1 will AOE at 50% hp and it has about 700k hp. So if you use sharptooth its max hp becomes 630k(assuming you have level 6). This would delay the aoe and on top of that the max damage the AOE does is decreased. Other than that theres really no point to use it more than once.

    Basically what they said.

Hitting STA (with the HP effect) reduces max hp by a %, at level 10, say, 16%. So the monster's max HP now has 16% less. Provided you've not done more than 16% dmg to that monster, it has depleted it's current hp to 16% less, and when the reduced maximum hp thing wears off (there's a specific icon of it), their max HP returns to normal, but the current HP lost does not get regained (minus boss resetting or somehow regenerating all hp from taking little to no dmg for a long period). It's a simple way of killing things faster, even though it nerfs xp. At lower levels, the percentage won't be noticed much, especially on regular mobs. As you level it up though, you'll notice it, and you'll wanna use it on bosses for BH, as one example, as soon as you start a fight, so as the effect of it is greater. If a % damage was done to the mob that is equal to or more than the reduced maximum HP your STA takes away, it then makes using STA kinda pointless. b:bye

I know there is a guide....trust me I have come back to it over and over...BUT I don't think it ever explained what happens after 30 seconds is up. Thank you all.....I have level 5 or 6 already but at my level...when 5 people are attacking something with 400K hp its hard to see a drop in 40K. I agree that once they get into the millions it will be great

Deicide's debuff is only 10%. A level 10 STA, which every 9x archer should have, is 16%. 10% is significantly less than 16%.

Sage Soul Degeneration works too, but honestly, if you've gotten to 9x without knowing how or when to use STA... b:surrender
