refineing a weapon

So i got my self a new pretty leg weapon that I can use in a few levs (duel hammers of gale)
and i was talking abut refineing it with my growing pile of mirage ciestones and my (something with a T that helps refiniig success stones)

when I was told this could take away some bonus or something from my weapon.

Is this true, can refineing have ay posible negative outcome on my weapon? should i go for it or leave it be?

    There are no negative effects when you refine; go for it!
