noob at hypers

i got a question about hypers. if both exhaustion time is burned out (like when i go to sleep) and buffer time is burned out (like when im doing wq), can i still use the hyper exp? i know you switch between hyper exp and buffer or exhaustion, but if they're both gone, what happens?
