Blacksmith skill not appearing at elder ?

Okay, so i know the game pretty well and i've jsut taken an interest in blacksmithing.

I think when i was lvl 3 or something i dropped the quest, now when i go to the elder i can't get it back.

I've tried going to the bookmerchant for the blacksmith skill book but he isn't selling anything to me.

Help please?

    You can buy a replacement book at the bookseller, if that really is the part you are missing.

    First, go to the blacksmith and choose 'manufacture' and see if it will let you craft lvl1 stuff.

    Steps to get blacksmith skill:
    1) Talk to racial elder and get quest to see blacksmith.
    2) Talk to blacksmith and get quest to collect 2 pig iron.
    3) Turn in 2 pig iron and get blacksmith skill book.
    4) Talk to elder about "learn manufacturing skills" with skill book in inventory and learn blacksmith.

    The only reason to see the bookmerchant is if you've done step 3 and not 4, and need to replace a lost skill book. Now do you remember which steps you have and haven't done?
