Officer refining

Ok so here's the thing:
I have heared alot of people claiming that an officer from a land has better refine chances than an elder. Personaly it makes some sence to make, as they give better things than elders in any way. But on the other hand I'm doubting atm.
So does anyone actually know if officers give better chances at refining?

Although some still swear to it, all those who actually test it with a large number of trials find no such benefit over elders.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I agree that it would make sense. After all, these officers give special bonuses you can't get anywhere else, so it would seem logical that they'd give better refining too. But if you follow the link Asterelle gives you can find out what happened when we researched it.
Basically what I did was I joined a different version of PW where I was able to get into a land-owning faction and acquire a huge stack of Mirages. I then went to Harshlands, where Duke Blacke says there will be a bonus to refine +1, refined thousands of times at the normal Elder followed by thousands of times at the faction-only Officer. I kept careful notes, and the results were virtually identical. There was no bonus whatsoever to refining +1.
Later, when I had figured out a way to view the refining odds directly as refining was happening (which cannot be done on PWI, btw), I went back and checked. Sure enough, the odds for refining to +1 were exactly 50% for the Elder and exactly 50% for the faction-only Officer.
It's theoretically possible that PWI uses a modified system of refining, however the tests that have been done on PWI that have involved thousands of refining attempts and carefully recorded notes all show no improvements when using any of Duke Blacke's other rumours. There's certainly no harm in following them, but they are no different than wearing your lucky hat or crossing your fingers when you click "refine".[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
