I know... not another pet thread... I just wanna make sure I didn't miss out on something.

oke my current pets are:

adalwolf b:surrender
frogling
cloud skatefish in training
kownlin

oke I wanna give this pet list a boost >_> at lvl 80 I'll be able to have 5 or 6 slots open.
I'll keep my frog and kownlin. I gues skatefish is a good airpet to keep.

I was thinking of replacing the adalwolf with an marksman sharpshooter. And ad an dark wanderer to the list. also for water-content a plumpfish, though I don't know if there will be much watercontest later :/

This would make the list:
frogling
cloud skatefish
kownlin
marksman sharpshooter
dark wanderer
probably a plumpfish

I'm still saving to get a herc. And I'm not keen on getting a GW or magmite. (so damn slow >_> )

am I missing out on something?

It depends on what you intend on doing and your DW and Marksman won't hold up well vs mag bosses.Don't ever take on the role as tank if no Barb is around or even BM.
Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

That's how my pet bag looks like:

    Glacial Walker - tank ground
Dark Wanderer - melee dd ground
Petite Sawfly - melee dd air
Eldergoth Sharpshooter - range dd ground
    Celestial Plumpfish - tank water

Glacial Walker loses almost all value in presence of a Herc.

Marksman even without Protect skill will be able to tank some World Bosses before a generic Herc can. If you get high enough in level, a Dark Wanderer becomes possibly the best choice to tank Stygean for a squad with.

    **

Dark Wanderer is a good choice. Stick Claw on it, and you have about 1/3 more DD power than a Herc, and an excellent phys grind pet.

Petite Sawfly is bad advice. There are comparable pets with better skill sets you can upgrade to. They pale in comparison to a Nix, and a Nix is not so hard to acquire at higher levels. Investing in a Sawfly is a total waste.

Celestial Plumpfish is decent, but painfully slow and weak as a dd / aggro holder. Still, it's probably the most sensible choice for a fish pet. You should save your water quests 5 levels below you acquire one for it. Then level 74 is all underwater. Fishing in Sea of Isolation is popular for coin/xp, and Unicorn Forest has some water mobs that are very valuable for card boss card drops. With Strong and Reflect in Unicorn Forest, the water mobs are easily AoE grindable.

Frogling is better off sold as it's relatively useless. If you want a mag tank/ lurer, a Carapest Terror already comes with Slow and is more suitable for low matk venos. I don't bother with mag pet debuff luring anymore though.

Kowlin is another pet that's better off sold for coin. Anything it can do, another common pet can do better.

I think the person meant that it is the best AFTER the herc ...

nix is not hard to get... riiiight.... 9999 feathers... unless ofc u take it for granted that you already have a herc 9999 sof...

A frog is not useless and if you check this thread, you'll see it overpowers the carapest terror... and I quote from the thread "Depending on how you look at it, if you don't mind appearance and such then a carapest terror is statistically comparable to a frog all-round and as a magic tank." I hence do find it unwise to dismiss the frog though I have to agree on the kowlin since it can easily be overpowered in luring by a ranged pet like the marksman... oh! and did I mention that I caught my frog at lvl 30 with no -chan gear or w/e? it is free afterall...

Kowlin is another pet that's better off sold for coin. Anything it can do, another common pet can do better.

From your post, Waterfal, I gather that you are not the tanking-type veno (until u get ur herc ofc ^^) and for that I, personally, find that your choice of pets is cool b:victory you might want to pump your pet's skills to improve them but overall: go go you :D

    This question is somewhat meaningless.

The magmite is still a better physical tank than the wanderer.

The wanderer is a better damage dealer.

But isn't it better for venos to get a pet as a tank since they are normally supposed to do a good amount of damage?

If you are tanking, you want a good enough tank to handle the damage.
If you are NOT tanking, you want as much damage as possible.

It's different pets for different situations.

If you can only have ONE pet - then it's the herc, or the glacial walker until you can afford the herc.

But you're allowed multiple pets. Which makes things more interesting...

I'm probably not going to get a phoenix for a while... atm I have around 1800 SoF only x.x

atm I'm not really interested in tanking bosses, so that's why I don't really have a tank in my pet bag. I gues I'll get to tank enough bosses when I get a herc... ^^'

So lemme gather all info in one post x.x

marksman = good choice, ranged and can tank certain worldbosses
dark wanderer = good, with claw would be great :)
plumpfish = oke for the fishing
I gues I'll keep the skatefish and lvl it up for now.

you suggest dump the frogling and the kownlin... however the frog is the only pet I have atm that is up to my lvl. Also I will get 2 new pets already that I'll have to lvl up. and still lving the skatefish...

I wonder how much difference it will make if I keep my frogling, I mean, yes, the carapest has more magical defense and such, but are there actually things that the carapest can handle that the frogling can't? :/

I gues I'll keep the kownlin for now, I got it as a prezzie and it suits me fine for now :) maybe I'll drop it later on for another pet.
