Did anyone else notice how the GM magic sword has 10m range? That means they can kill someone by waving their sword at them from 30 feet away.

thats my whole point....they arent uberplayers! they are office workers for the game company. thats how i met BC in the first place....she was investigating a ticket i had sent in when the graphics went wonky last year. she wanted to see what and where i was talking about for herself. no problem. what did make me mad was that she dragged my lv 20+ son along to high level areas for no reason, so he got killed, and had no way out but on foot. BC was/is someone who reads the tickets, and passes on the info....big deal. i hear some do have characters they play, but that they are not allowed to play the game with their GM characters (wish i could remember who said this....it was on the forums some months ago, and i believe it was a GM who said it)

and yes, it is frustrating to get to know someone here, who seems to understand the forum and the game, then they get shipped off to the latest of the PWD forums. wonder who will wind up going to BoI?

As far as GMs and knowing the game goes, yes, it's nice and all when they do know the game like a regular player does. But their job isn't to know how to run a Frost or ress players that die. Their job is to monitor for Terms of Service violations, and play customer support. As long as they know the ToS, they make a fine GM. Not to mention the fact that GMs aren't supposed to be 'playing' the GM character, so why would it have skills that you need levels, SP, and money to get?

Not to mention the fact that they're GMs for PWE, not PWI. So say they spend all this time getting to know the interface, classes, etc of PWI...then they're switched over to JD. All that time wasted, and a whole host of people on the JD forums complaining that they don't know enough about the game.

But earlier you spoke about how you were upset that the GM couldn't ress your son as well, and didn't understand why they couldn't get ress. Which implies that you want the GMs to spend the time they could be using answering tickets, dealing with violations, etc, learning how to use skills on their characters instead. I can second that I heard they're not allowed to play on their GM characters as well.

I don't understand why anyone would be so angry about it though. Some things excite people that others wouldn't find interesting at all. When I did my first frost everyone was really pushing how shocked I would be when I got to the last boss without telling me what it was, so they could hear my reaction, and I had none. They were all talking about how excited and scared they got when it became huge but it didn't mean anything to me. Similarly, wizard buffs are useless but I get excited when I get one because I enjoy the effect. So why do people get upset that others are excited about seeing GMs? I get excited because you don't see them all the time. Why do you (a general you, not you in particular) care whether or not I'm excited?

i was stupid enough to assume that the 'lv105' meant something at the time. and i still think they should not venture out without skills into places where they may be killed, or endanger other players. yes, they are office workers, and because of the ability to pop on that level, i assumed they could just as easily add the skills. how the heck was i to know, at that time? i dont think any of us know exactly how that GM ingame system works.

i dont think any of us know exactly how that GM ingame system works.

And this is why you honestly shouldn't complain about that sort of thing. For all we know, they may only be allowed to have GM equips on for limited periods of time, which explains why we've already seen GMs on PvP servers getting PK'd. However, that doesn't change the fact that they still have jobs to do.

Besides, when you mention things like them popping up in Frost or the like "unprepared".... what better way to see what things are like than popping in on a random squad and observing how they do things? If I wanted to see what a certain instance is like when I spent more time working on support than getting to enjoy the game, you can bet I'd pop in there without any sort of uber gears to see the real thing and not some watered down version that doesn't apply to the average player.

well, i guess if you like doing your observations dead on the floor, through the grey that happens then, go for it!

GMs are just doing their job.

GM porting me out from being stucked.

    http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Krakami/2010-04-2420-02-13-1.jpg

The reason they have those fancy capes and items are because they need them sometime for problems (Someone got stucked on a world boss, someone harrassing and that. On the other hand, those stuff also serves for not getting always pked when doing their job.)

GMs aren't meant for ressing, they are there to help when you get stuck on landscapes or bugs that could not move.

I don't really think they will have time to go on their account at all, just for teleporting others is when they usually go on. And other things is that I alway saw people asking GMs about everything (new updates, new stuff etc) remember, they don't know or can't tell you, the person that knows everything are the devs, not the GMs, ok?
