    on the one hand, you can think that you have complete control over your life, or you can think that your life is basically a giant intergalactic version of the Sims being played on a PS12.

    Well my life is played on a WiiUMiiHiiShiiIit...

    Anyways...I highly doubt a real free will/freedom for humans exists...since humans are...limited...may it be by time, space or abilities...

    Yet...if ya kind of live in your own world...ignorin' the possibilities of bein' just a tool/toy, greater bein's, other dimensions etc...then...if ya believe in it...ya'd have a free will...
    It just might not be "real"...

    What an awfully annoying bland question to ask... Overused, simple... And not even yours.
    Personally, I don't see or rather refuse to see any connection between the (non-)issue of a 'free will' and predestination. 'Free will' is merely a term for me that just won't fit in, holding no meaning to me whatsoever.

    Anyway.
    That makes me have to ask... do you believe free will exists?

    That makes you? Does that mean that I have manipulated/influenced you in any way to issue this question? I'm asking you, where's the free will in that? :)

    I had five options how to react to this posed question (ignoring it, avoiding the thread with my real reason unknown, admitting that 'free will' exists, neglecting its existence, and changing the topic); I'm asking again, where's the free will in that? I had no other options, even ignorance is a sort of 'response'.

    There's always a limited number of options available, you're never really 'free' to act outside of these choices. Not much freedom I daresay.
    Actions go hand in hand with reactions, which are the base of interaction; when I stretch out my hand to touch you, you've several options on how to react, but these options are limited; just because you've a set of choices to your disposal... does that mean you're acting with your own 'free will'? And was my own action free? Or did you manipulate me that I reacted to you?

    I think those choices/options we have limit ourselves and result rather in having a 'bound mind' than a free one. There's no such thing as freedom anyway. We're bound/restricted by friends, family, foes, society and human functions (such as conscience and consciousness), we may dispose of the shackles of other humans, but we cannot really turn our backs to these human functions.

    Let's think about body functions as well, do you see breathing as a matter of having a 'free will'? I'd rather think it's merely instinctual/intuition/necessary. If I want to stop breathing, I can't without using some other forceful medium. Just holding your breath alone won't do the trick as your body works against your mind. Is my free will limited then?

    The matter of 'free will' is similar to 'truth' I'd say, it's something highly personal; you may be unaware of a lie and keep it as your own truth in that line of thinking - so you may also deduce that your action are based on 'free will' even though they were influenced/forced in some way.

    Apologies for the mess of thoughts, that's as clear and structured as I can get...

    Good response. As overused as it is, for many people it really tends to give proof of surprising or extremely conflicting ideals in how they react and want to see the world. To be honest, I was either expecting it to be ignored or the subject changed considering you've already stated your viewpoint on it a few times already throughout this thread while various other discussions occurred.

    Still, I am rather pleased you took the time to respond anyways.
