What's so wrong with researching PWI?

Is there anything so bad with spending lots of time learning all the factors that create PWI (or any other MMO)? There so much that can be gathered and learn via objective data (databases, guides/tutorials) and subjective data (culture, experiences, "politics"). All MMOs are an art in their expansiveness and userbase, so what's so wrong in reading about one more than actually playing it?

In my opinion, absolutely nothing. Knowledge is power, knowing is half the battle, and so on.
For example, most reliable merchanting schemes take advantage of one of two things: impatience, and other people not doing the research.
That said, don't simply accept other peoples' results. Things change, and existing information can become obsolete.
I'll also just throw this in here, because I found it funny.
