One reason for this thread is to reduce the chance that someone else will lose thier refund money while learning how this poorly documented system works.

This thread is also because my other ticket for my other issue is 21 days old with no resolution yet. All I have gotten so far is the response that the missing quest item that can not be traded or dropped can not be remedied by me, and that they have to do something before I can complete the quest. Yeah, after 21 days, and I already knew that. I would like to wait less than 21 days to get this issue resolved.

Again, no where is it written that we have to read the letter to get our coin back. We ARE told that we will get a refund if we are outbid. A few helpfull people have pointed out that AFTER you open the letter there are a few clues. The subject line of the letter while in your ingame mailbox could have a helpfull clue such as saying "Auction House Refund", not something about an auction error. It is not even an error, who had the brain **** to have it say that? Even the letter itself does say to click on anything to get your coin back. The auction refund system makes sense only after you do it, not before.

Go ahead, cut and paste and show me where the instructions say you have to read the letter to get your refund. I certainly can not find it. And by the way, I do seem to have waited longer to start using the auction house than a few others people. I waited in part because of the poor documentation.

uh huh....the system never said that it will warp the coins back into your inventory either...
and being sent to the mailbox = given back to you.

hm.....me suppose that you also expect the paycheck from your job to be changed into cash and warped into your side storage areas of the pants?

Even after you read the letter it has two problems.

first, the letter says the coin "has been refunded" For those of us who speak English as a primary language this means that the refund has already happened. What the letter should say is "will be refunded" which means that the coin has not been refunded yet. If you read and then delete that letter saying the coin "has been refunded" the money is not refunded although the letter clearly states that it ALREADY HAS.

For the letter not to be a lie (and it is either a lie or a big error) it would say something in the manner of "Your bid will be refunded after you click on the coin icon".

Again, the documentation is rather poor. I did nothing wrong.

And to magic hampster, I have direct deposit for my paycheck. The money automatically shows up in the bank the night before payday.

you still have to go make a withdrawal out of the bank system to get your monies....
and lol the monies has been refunded it has been sent to your mailbox which you decided to delete on purpose.

Then how is it that there's a majority of people that do get it and you did not? Besides, you never replied to the (very well) pointed out argument that you had, by your own admission, been outbid before. Maybe you only bid on cheap stuff then and didn't hurt as much as you did now?

I'm calling it butthurt though. I don't like it when people blame others for their own mistakes. Makes me think of the woman that sued McDonalds for spilling her coffee and got burned.

1.A lvl 81 who doesn't know how the mail works
2.Someone who has got 4mil to bid on stuff doesn't know how the mail works
3.Someone who has bidded and got outbid doesn't know how the mial works

    Epic fail =.=

The refund letter is plainly telling me the coin HAS BEEN refunded, as in the refund happened before I even looked at the letter. Excuse me for knowing what the letter is telling me. IF the refund transaction happened before I even looked at the letter, then i do not have to even look at the letter. The letter could have said "your refund is enclosed, please click on the coin icon".

But no, it is telling me the coin is already refunded, a done deal.

Again, I did nothing wrong. the letter is poorly written. This is one of those learning experiences to be sure, but I do want my coins returned. It is not my fault that I believed what the letters tell me. It is the poorly written refund letter in the poorly documented refund system that is in error, not me.

And no, I am not the only one to lose money to this flaw in the refund system.

In answer to the question about being outbid before, I believed the letter when it said that my coin had (already) been refunded. The loss of 4 milion coin was when I first noticed. So, it turns out thast not only did I lose the 4 millon on the letters I deleted, but i also lost coin on the letters telling me I (already) had been refunded the coin i bid. If the letter had not lied to me telling me my coin had (already) been refunded, this would not have happened.

I fully agree. While the OP made a mistake I wouldn't blame her for it. The fault is in terrible auction house UI. Everything in there is unintuitive including the reliance on the mailbox. You really should be able to take coins and items out of the AH directly.

The AH UI is lousy. You can't sort the auctions by price or name. You can't see the icons of things you bid on (I have friends who have bid on the wrong thing due to similar spellings). There is no 1-click button to relist an item after the auction expires. Really there are so many huge obvious improvements that need to be made its depressing.

The players deserve a better system but we won't get it since it doesn't involve anything "new".

    your automobile has been repaired

your order has been delivered to your address

    your account has been banned

    your payment has been deducted

    your check has bounced

    your pet has died

    war has been declared

Some of you may notice a trend here, to say that something has happened means that the event mentioned is in the past. It does not mean that the automobile will be repaired after you mosey over to the repair shop, the the item will be delivered in a few days, that you can still log onto the account, that the payment is still in your bank, that you will not have to pay an overdraft fee to the bank, that your pet is stil alive but will expire as soon as you touch it, or that soldiers are still lounging around doing typical peace time busy work.

The refund letter says the bid has been refunded. The refund already happened. Excuse me for believeing the letter.

    You have received mail.

That means you go to the mailbox and pick it up. That doesn't mean the mailman secretly snuck into your room to slip the mail into your hands while you're asleep.

You can argue over the meaning however you want, but I still don't understand why you would delete the letter when it clearly says:

This mail has an attachment, are you sure you want to delete it?

Did you completely disregard this message or did you somehow misinterpret what an attachment is?

I agree the auction house system is clumsy and could do with improvements. I can even understand how you might have been unfamiliar with how the auction house works etcetera.

At your level, I would be very very surprised however if you were not familiar with how to use the Post Box system.

If you previously encountered the message: "This mail has an attachment, are you sure you want to delete it?" before and still deleted it, then maybe you should have been paying more attention?

If you never did encounter the message: "This mail has an attachment, are you sure you want to delete it?" before, then maybe you should have double checked what it meant?

I'm sorry if this isn't being helpful, but... why would you delete mails with attachments on? b:avoid

    Think of it this way.

You send money in to pay for an item online (You paid via cash for this example).

By the time your order arrives, they've run out of stock.

So they refund your payment to by sending you an envelope with your cash in it back to you.

You opened it (money is still stuck in the envelope, guess you didn't see it). You read, "Your money has been refunded" and automatically assume they took your cash and sent it to your bank account.

You throw the letter in the fire.

Then you complain to us that it's the letter's fault.

I am not complaining to you guys, the system is flawed, I want my coin refunded. tickets seem to take forever to be even looked at. I can have "fun" with it here, now. After the owners deal with this, I wil return to this game (and maybe buy more gold).

The first time I bid, I lost, got a letter, it said my money had been refunded. I deleted the letter because my money HAD BEEN REFUNDED. Then, I noticed I did not have my refund in my inventory. I checked the bank, money was not there either. It really p issed me off.

A more correct letter would have truthfully stated the refund was enclosed, or attached. Since the bid was already refunded (according to the letter) no further action was required on my part. I too did nothing wrong other than believe the letter.

    to OP,

English is my second language and when I got my first refund from AH. I understood the same thing but when I tried to delete, I got the funny message about the attachement.

So, I took it and learn what the meaning actually was, and I did not lose my money.

you should keep in mind also, the game was translated from chinese. Some stuff is not translated the best way.

Again, don't waste your time explaining to people how AH should work or what the letter should say.

Don't you think, if you either win or lose your bid, you should get a message telling you right away what happened rather than you going to the closest postbox to find out?

You get unimportant messages on your screen about somebody getting married and you dont get a message about your bids in AH.b:bye

the same situation as going to AH npc to find out what is on sale is another waste of time.

There is nothing wrong in trying to get your money refunded but fat chance in happening. Sorry.b:surrender
