When you click "Filter Items" the right half of the window that appears has a search box at the top. Searching in these characters works there, providing a list of Chinese search results, which you can hover over or double click to filter for that item only. (Sorry for not posting a screenshot)0 -

It gives you a complete list of things you can auction and it is easier (maybe not that easy...) to check all the prices of the same item. http://i39.tinypic.com/25fimpc.jpg Here is the picture: the left one is when I type in the star thing. They give you access to more specific categories. i.e. if you search for the "wheel of fate" symbol above - 轮 - (which actually seems to mean wheel or glaive), you get a list of a bunch of glaives on the side bar. From there you can find the Wheel of Fate, and double click it to search for *just* Wheels of Fate in the auction house, as opposed to searching weapons -> elite -> general to get all mold weapons using the English filter.0 -
I believe there are a few items that don't actually have a preset filter category, though I'm not sure and can't think of any off the top of my head.
Also, some of the preset categories are quite broad and can be a pain to wade through if you're looking for one specific item. For example, looking for one specific mold often involves going through something like a dozen pages.0 -
The Chinese filter search doesn't give you more categories but it gives you more accurate searches. For example, there can be an assload of ready made weapon molds at any one time. By making use of the symbols in the search feature, you can search for Wheel of Fates and only Wheel of Fates.
A list of every search-able item would be great. It would make comparing prices on items so much easier because you don't have to file through pages and pages of other rubbish to see the items you want to find.
It's the only problem I had with the English filters on the AH - when it comes to certain things like molds, legendary armour and weapons, Frost and suchlike... it's an incredibly broad search. Hell, even with all the numerous TT filters, finding anything you want can be quite the hunt, too.
The ability to search for the item you want, and only the item you want, would be absolutely awesome. I would gladly support a thread that listed as many of these Chinese symbols available to use in the filter search.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I would think that the Chinese Characters would be completely unnecessary. For something as specific as a Wheel of Chi, though, I could see it being useful.0 -

Yep, okay, I definitely see the benefit in searching for certain items in this way; it's far more efficient.
We'll talk to the devs in China about making this tool usable in English--the ability to simply search "Wheel", come up with every item name that contains "wheel", and then use one item as a filter is a feature that really ought to have been in the game in the first place.
While they see about working on that, I'll go ahead and move this thread to the Trading Post and sticky it. Feel free to add more Chinese characters to this guide

For finding shards by grade:

Enter it as "#级", for example "7级" to get the filters for each Flawless shard only.

Useful for finding Apothecary powders, some of which can't be found using the ordinary English category filters.
For any fellow hunters of obscure Chinese names for items, something that seems like it could help is translating the PW-MY names for items. Some of those are closer to direct translations of the Chinese names than the English names. For example, that's how I stumbled upon Ultimate Substance.0 -

For example, the Chinese name for Ultimate Substance is literally "thousand machine material". Sure, you could translate "Ultimate Substance", but that wouldn't get you anything useful.
An even better example is the L43 mold Wheel of Fate. Google Translate gives "命运之轮" for "Wheel of Fate". The actual Chinese name for the same weapon is "明阳夺魄轮", which is something like "Bright sun soul-seize wheel".0 -

魔笈 for demon books, and nothing but demon books.
Far, far better than using 真. You still have to find the specific book you're looking for, but it's grouped by class in the big list that comes up.0 -

What chinese signs we need the most, are items in big categories in auction house. Mainly elite weapons, armour & ornaments. Fashion and pets are ok, since they have 1 category for each item. Also some categories under Other section would be nice to filter more accurate. Keep up the good work.

One thing: if you want to find a specific mold and the made version at the same time (or any item really, works with TT stuff too), try this:
1) When you know the item you are looking for, find it from PWDB. I use the Helm of Aqua Viciousness as an example: http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/8347.
2) Click that Malaysian flag. It will now show the other name for it: http://www.pwdatabase.com/my/items/8347.
3) Think which word is the most simple one. The word "shell" is pretty simple. This is because it will be easier for the Google Translate.
4) Translate that word in Chinese with Google Translate, and then search it in AH.
5) It will now list both the mold and the made version.
6) If you couldn't find anything, check other words or other Chinese characters that the GTranslate gives you.
Why this should be done: those names are closer to the Chinese name. If you use the Chinese word for 'aqua' you will not find it, since it's not named like that in the original version of the game.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.
