ALT+TAB on full screen issue

When I alt+tab to see my desktop while PWI is in full screen the game window comes back transparent & I cannot click on anything. I can see the game screen but when I roll my mouse across I see my icons from the desktop show through. I can't play the game at that point & must use CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up task manager & force PWI client to close and then restart the game.

This also happens when any other program accidentally starts behind the window & takes the focus from PWI client. I can never come back to the game normally using alt+tab & have to force PWI to shut down because nothing can be clicked on in it's window.

I'd really like to know if there is an EASY answer to what causes this & if you have seen this before. I tried the search feature but it fails to bring up anything at all for the search "alt+tab" or anything like that.

Please, I'm looking ONLY for COMMON KNOWLEDGE INFORMATION to see if this is a COMMON problem. I'm sorry but this is the most simple way I can possibly explain this issue.

I only want to know if anyone else has had this happen & what they did to fix it.

Hey, look at it this way...at least you aren't getting the stupid "Bug Report" window...that used to pop up for me when I would alt+tab and then try to come back...SO annoying...

Other than the two usual suspects: video driver updates, DX version updates. Make sure your hardware/drivers can support the latest DX version.

Are you running multiple monitors? There are additional challenges for fullscreen mode for DX when multiple monitors are present.

Try installing the East-Asian Language Packs.

No just a single monitor & I recently updated everything but I'll check again on the updates. I do have an ATI card but it was running perfectly until recently.

I just hate it when something is not broken & they "fix" it so it becomes broken. b:chuckle

    Thx for the advice.

Do what Surtr said Iredyn and your problem will be fixed. At least on XP. Not sure if the same procedure applies for Vista or Win7 to fix this bug
