The Memoirs of an NPC contest is over soon (I was going to wait until it officially ended, but I just couldn'tb:surrender). Because of this, I figure it's time to satisfy my curiosity for what others have submitted. So, lets all put our memoirs here for all to see. Comment on what you like or don't like at will. We can even see who we think would be good candidates for the winners (this will not in any way affect the judging process, if you didn't know that already.) You can put in your screenshots if you want, but the writing is the main purpose of this thread.

Rate, critique, and enjoy!

To start things off, here's the three I wrote, starting with the Head Hunter:

    Memoirs of the Head Hunter
I was born as Wan Shu in the small human town of Timberfield. My father was a woodcutter, and my mother had her hands full taking care of me. The war with the wraiths didn't really come our way very often. And even when it did, there was usually a warrior or two around that could take care of it. Because of this, I grew up without any real experience with battles, war, and death. All I really wanted to do with my life was to follow in my fathers footsteps and become a woodcutter. That is, until I was ten anyway.
They came out of nowhere. Swarms of wraiths from every angle, even the sky. Not even the small number of warriors in the area could do anything to stop them. My parents hid me well, and it is because of this that I survived. But both of my parents, along with several other villagers, died that day. It didn't take me long to swear revenge against the wraiths, and take up the sword to fight them. But, with no talent with any manner of weapon, and no magical abilities, I soon found that I would need to rely on the strengths of others for revenge.
And so I came to the capital city of Archosaur, shedding my name to become the Head Hunter, and recruiting others to kill the strongest wraiths, one by one...

    Next is the Old Swordsman:

    Memoirs of the Old Swordsman
My name is not important. Besides, I've forgotten it over the years, so long have I gone by Old Swordsman. But, I do remember why I became the way I did. I lived in Etherblade, and so my life was peaceful. Complex in some ways, but peaceful. Only hearing about the war through others. When I was of age, I joined the military, more out of curiosity than anything else.
I soon found that I had a natural talent for the sword. I quickly grew in skill, and in rank, until I was one of the elite of the human army against the wraiths. It got to the point where I grew bored with normal styles of combat. I had heard of an unarmed combat style called "Drunken Fist", and I thought that I may be able to make something similar for swordplay. It worked, very well. The more intoxicated I became, the more my power grew.
As I grew older, I found that I was starting to lose the strength of youth. And so I decided I would leave the army and find an apprentice. To do this, I wait in areas with strong wraiths for warriors with wine to bring out my power, so that I can kill the weaker enemies for them. I wait in these areas to find a swordsman worthy of my technique, and I will wait until I find one. As for the game I always have with me, I simply enjoy playing it.

And finally, the Black Market Vendor:

Memoirs of the Black market Vendor
My family never had a real home, since we moved around very often. My lineage reflects this unusual life. Although I may look fully human, I have some Untamed blood in me. My father was a human, a Blademaster who favored the way of the fist. My mother on the other hand was a particularly dubious feline Venomancer. I turned out male, and so that half doesn't show through, but I do have some of her personality traits. I was a born thief. A criminal practically since the day I was born.
I started out with small thefts. A few things here and there from the warriors we would meet on the road. And I was good at it. Soon I had so many things I couldn't use that I had to do something with it all. I soon realized that some of the things I had gotten my hands on were very valuable. I got into the habit of selling them. Sometimes to the very people I stole the item from in the first place. I enjoyed myself quite a bit doing this. I had found my calling.
I moved to Archosaur to set up my shop of...less than legal goods there, as the Black Market Vendor. But, I make sure to only sell to a certain, limited number of people. These are people that know what I sell, and how to ask for it.

I decided to only do one entry...I think it came out okay, though.

...however, the forum is being totally stupid, so I'll post it later.

Okay...methinks I figured out the problem...

    b:question
    Wraithhunter Hu

The pitter-patter of rain punctuated by peals of thunder overlooked the small village of Hidden Orchid. Terrified screams of women and children echoed through the void of the night. The village men gathered into what one might call a large squadron; one that would have been larger, had they anticipated the Wraith's attack. It was them and only them that stood between those horrid creatures of darkness and the surviving villagers.

One particular villager stood at the front lines, his pike held in a death-like grip, his knees shaking and heart pounding.

"Men!" the Village Elder commanded. "We are Hidden Orchid's last hope! The surviving women and children and holed up in the hut behind us; we must not let those vile Wraiths destroy our lives, our loved ones, our heritage! Even now, Pan Gu watches over us, ready to grant us a swift and decisive victory! Now charge, my fellow villagers! Let us fight to our last breath!!"

With the Elders order, the men charged headlong to meet the Wraiths...

...except for one. Still paralyzed with fear, still holding his pike tightly in his hand, he simply stood and watched his comrades fall, sacrificing their lives to protect the ones they loved, wondering why he did not have the strength to join them.

Three years later, he stands in Southwest Archosaur, next to his superior, the Commander-in-Chief, aiding warriors in their battles against the Wraiths by increasing their fame in exchange for evidence of a fallen Wraith. He is...Wraithhunter Hu.

I know how you feel. It kept eating mine until I figured it out as well.

For those who post later, take this to heart. It would seem that copy/pasting the story out from word (or whatever other program you happen to be using) would be the easy thing. But the forums won't let you. So, you have to manually type the entire thing out into your post. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

Actually, Lair...I found out the true reason. While your overall findings of copy-pasta'ing from Microsoft Word (or any similar word processor) is true, allow me to delve into the inner workings behind this anomaly. *dons top hat*

The problem can be described in two words: "punctuation marks". Namely, the "smart" punctuation marks that are naturally put into word processors nowadays. Now, PWI has their own little punctuation system: the quotes are straight, the hyphens takes up only one normal character space, and the ellipsis (...) is three separate characters. However, word processors with "smart" capabilities end up curving the quotes, extending the length of the hyphen, and turning the ellipsis into a single character. It is these changes that PWI has problems recognizing, causing your post to cut off.

If you truly want to remedy this situation without having to type out everything, copy-paste whatever you want from Word, then scour the pasted post for any of the following: quotation marks (" , '); hyphens (-), and ellipsis (...). Delete them and retype them, which will turn them into PWI's accepted form. Then your post should be fine. If it cuts off again, then it means you missed something.

    ...that'll be all.

    Good idea.

    I made mine rather simple...
    Warsoul Spirit

I was like you once... young and alive. Now I am trapped. Trapped more than any of you. My life was joyous and happy and I believed it to be a great honor to hold this much power. However, with great power comes great responsibility and I learned the hard way of that. My days turned grim and lonely. I had survived the flood when my friends and family had not, watching them as they drowned before me. I only waited and waited for a day of freedom of protecting this power.

One day a Mysterious Merchant came to me and I told him my problems. We had a deal that if I gave him samples of the peices to create the fragments, he would create all the weapons to set me free. He lied. I waited and longed for the day he would come again. And soon I gave up hope.

    My name you ask of?

I am the Warsoul Spirit. I can only remain here as the guardian of the war souls. The souls of the war gods rest within the power I hold. I am cursed.. Living yet dead until the power is passed down to the choosen... possibly you. If you acquire a warsoul weapon from me, I am one step towards finally resting and not carrying this burden any longer...

Oh my, was I ranting on again?

    Here is mine!

    Memoirs of the Eldest Matchmaker

I am known worldwide as the Eldest Matchmaker and many can attest to my abilities, but many ask why I am still unmarried, so, to answer all the questions, here is my story.

Once, I was in love, with the most beautiful woman in the entire world. I met her in the beautiful meadows of Sanctuary, while I was on vacation from my job as a hat merchant in Archosaur. We made plans to get married, and were days away from our wedding day when she was taken from me, quite suddenly, by cruel fate and more cruel monsters. I chased them as long and as far as I could, but they managed to escape me. I mourned my loss for a while, but finally made the decision to move on with my life. My demeanor became so gloomy, though, that I was unable to sell my hats anymore. Potential customers would take one look at me and decide that they had other, better, places to be.

So, rather than become a decrepit old man sitting by myself every night, I dedicated myself to helping those who are in love find fulfillment in that love, like I was never able to have.

~A little short, but I couldn't think of anything else!

Kona...you realize your story has two hundred and fifty ONE words? O.O
For those times when *facepalm* and *headdesk* just aren't enough, I present...*brickhead*...painful, effective, and guaranteed to make you forget why you hit yourself in the first place.

oke lets drop my entry here too b:cute
It's about Nibu Ru Demon overlord. For those who don't know, you can find him in hell... had to send a friend to get me a screenie to include in my entry. He's absolutely ugly and has chainsaw hands xD

    Memoires of an NPC
    Nibu Ru Demon overlord

    My powers were fading...
I could feel them, leaking from my dying body.
Heroes... I once fought them... but time goes on.
Now I'm laying here, waiting for my end.
My name is Nibu Ru Demon Overlord.
Some of you know me, some will meet me later, and others I will never see.
    I never lost.
Still. A hero raised, and now he's watching me die.
Let me tell you my story.

My name is Nibu Ru. I was found as a kid in Archosaur. I grew up like everyone.
    Chasing mobs and helping people.
At my seventeenth I left Archosaur. I traveled round the world, and fell in love with a beautiful girl.
I send her flowers, gifts and finally asked her to marry me. She didn't want me. She told me she hated me.
My heart was broken, shattered to pieces by her words.
I left the village in rampage, destroying everything in my way.
From that time, people started being afraid of me. I killed their heroes, their guards and their elders.
Everywhere I went, I left a track of disaster, death and chaos.
I didn't care. My love was gone. My heart was shattered.

I've won every battle so far. Was confident of myself, I thought I wasn't mortal.
    I was wrong.
A young hero, stomped me back into reality. I died. My rampage came to an end.
Now I'm here, standing in hell, the demon overlord, giving the heroes their quests. This is my punishment.

EDIT: It kept eating my post DX for all people who post after me. if you paste your story in. type over all '...' and type over all words with a ' in it... for some reason the forum goes hungry when you paste it in and eats your post...

Figured I'd post the one entry I did and see what everyone thought.

As the rain began to fall upon the battlefield the sounds of the wraiths could be heard for miles in all directions. We had begun the battle with more than a thousand troops, and yet, as the night progressed that number fell to but one hundred strong. As the wraith pressed on our numbers continued to fall until but only a handful of us remained. Desperate to find a miracle for my men I focused upon cutting a path to their leader.

Bloodied and barely standing I reached my goal, coming face to face with his massive figure as I steadied my blade, summoning within me the last of my resolve. Moving quickly so as to avoid his lance I began the brutal task of slaying the beast, and it was not until daybreak that it looked as if I might succeed.

As I leapt to strike the final blow to his chest his claw found my own, sending me to the ground below as he too began to fall, my sword having found its mark. I found myself trapped beneath him, unable to move as swamp water invaded my lungs. I could feel his blood coursing into the wounds I had sustained, and to my horror I could feel myself begin to change, that demon's blood beginning to strengthen me. Even now my face serves as a reminder to what I have become; half human, half wraith. Always fighting the urge to feed to this day.
