faction logo query

ok im told that that the only file format that they accept is .bmp for faction logo's
but i wish to make a transparent section on the logo, i only know how to do with with .png's etc and not .bmp's. ive done some researching on the internet into making transparent sections in .bmp's but none seem to be effective.
so my question is, how do i make transparent area's for the logo (in photoshop cs4 or an other programme) while retaining a .bmp format, or can we submit .png's?

I used Gimp to edit the file and do the layering. I tried photoshop but had issue working with such a small scale. There are instuctions posted around here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look for the search feature right now.
Unfortunately, now that I have fixed our tranparency, we can't re-submit. Supposedly we will be able to, but they are lagging behind on fixing that process just like they are with everything else.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
See This Thread? I haven't tried it yet, but the poster didn't say what program he was using for the instructions "Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel". I don't see that in Photoshop CS, although there is a discussion in the help contents on alpha channels.0

ive tried adding an alpha layer and set up the image as instructed, but when i save the image then re open it in PS it has a solid white background, shouldn't it be transparent?
as u can see in the image the alpha layer is there and black where it should be transparent (on the edges) and white in the center, what am i doing wrong =z coz the image just saves with a solid white background0 -
and with gimp i get

Click Advanced Modes. U will see that saving it in 24 bit will only save the RGB channels, and not the Alpha.
So if u want to save the alpha too, it will result a non-24 bit image, gonna be either 16 or 32.
Now, don't ask me if the GMs gonna accept a 32 bit image.0 -

(on gimp) i get that warning flag pop up "cant be saved with transparency" before the other save dialog window; then on that the advanced options is greyed out
ok after some playing about i managed to get that set up
then on the advanced section selected this option and saved
but if drag it into PS it has a solid white background or is this normal, is it ok to send like that?0 -
I actually attempted this method with our logo, using the alpha channel and everything. It still shows up with the ugly pink color in-game. And naturally, now we can't fix it since they're not accepting new submissions. -.-
GMs, can we get any sort of update on when we'll be able to submit icons again?Don't mind me, I'm just here for the free food!

Kamisama of lost city appears to have transparency in their logo but I'm not sure if it's a full alpha channel.
The pinkish one. You can try asking their leader how it was done... I think the name might be Elayne.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You can just make a lvl1 alt
