hi all,

i have a noobish question (althouge i'm lvl 72).

y do we ppl spend so much money on gems?

do i really need to spent 200k and another 41 attack magin to my weapon,
when i have around 700 attack magic as it is?
or to add 41 physical defence when i only have like 500?

the nubers may not be extacly correct, but i hope u get the point.

No, you're right - it's only a small incremental increase.

But it's one of the only ways to GET that increase.

Ahh, things are not always so black and white, of course...

For example, did you know that that extra magic attack is also treated as the new base damage of that weapon? That means that skills that multiply your base magic weapon attack are now direclty enhancing that value also. That +41 could easily be transformed into +200 magic attack or more through sparks and spells.

Furthermore, many skills and spells directly enhance your defense based on the value of your equipment such as Vanguard which your clerics cast on you. Any defense enhancing shards slotted into your gear will also have their values multiplied along with the armor, greatly boosting their original value.

So, its not always as small an increment as you might think.

    Yup, there is a point.

BM defense buff + Cleric defense buff will all increase your base value. That 500 could easily translate to over 1k++. A wiz with Stone Barrier would see another increase, and so would a veno in foxform.

It's not important at low-mid lvl range, but gets rather important later on.

Edit: Before I forget, I never paid 200k for mag atk shard. It cost me 120k at max, and 100k at minimum.

I was just blowing up basilisks and other stuff down in the far south. The trashmobs down there have 60k Hp.

Really. +200 magic attack is pretty much meaningless too. Less meaningless than +41, but still tiny.
