Considering trying a cleric next. A few questions about this...

1. At higher lvls after arcanes get a boost in physical resistence, what do you use against them? Do plume shot and razor feathers (even triple, double or single sparked) still work or they become useless? Is tangling mire an option (it can close get to -60% phys. res. with a str build) to replace the cleric debuff?
2. Is it a good ideea to use thunderstorm on your genie (dex genie to increase the damage) to add to your firepower against close fighters?
3. What is a good combo against heavies and light armors? Meaning, do you rather use tempest or just spark wield lightning. Is it enought to get the job done?
4. If you have a good genie build that is proper for a cleric in pvp (not duels) please share.
5. AND THIS IS NOT A FLAME THING JUST LOOKING FOR AN HONEST ANSWER: Are there clerics renowned for their pvp ability (that overcame their lable as "the support class")? Any secret about their succes?

1: Sage/Demon Plume shot/feathers will still hit harder than your metal skills by far.
2:I've toyed with this idea, but I don't really use it. Clerics aren't really a "dps through charm" class, they're more of a "51% HP and bypass charm" class.
3: It's dependent on their HP. With experience, you can guesstimate people's HP when you cyclone them. After that, it's just a matter of determining which skill gets the job done. You have to know your own damage range well for this, however.
4: Personally, I use the same genie on my cleric as on my mage. Cloud Eruption for Chi, Frenzy for damage(extreme poison when I get that last affinity) and Holy Path for escapes/closing distances/shrugging off movement debuffs. For pve, I recommend earthquake, though.
5: I fear clerics more than most classes. At higher levels, they can do more than enough damage to kill all but the best geared players, and they get incredible control skills / debuffs to boot.
Most of my gameplan is actually something like:
pop plume shell -> kite opponent to just above charm tick -> sleep them -> debuff them -> spark -> wield thunder/cloud eruption + tempest -> hope it kills them. Most of the time, it will. For robies, just replace thunder/tempest with a sparked razor feathers and things should turn out ok.
In all honesty, I like PvP on my cleric more than on my mage. More survivability and awesome control skills are the biggest draw for me.0 -

plume/feathers for robes
tempest/cyclone/wield thunder for heavys
for LAs its kinda a throw up what you wanna use considering they are usually the same for both res.
tho i like using metal for melee LA users (LA bms/archers/sins) since theyre str is usually a lil higher and they tend to use prot neck/belts
as for a LA wiz/cleric idk plume/feathers usually kinda good unless they STACK pres. You just gotta find their weakness and exploit it0 -

1: Plume, Feathers: On Robes and yes I'd get Tangle Mire, :-) (also I'd use it on Light too there mid range on both ends and usually I find physical does a little more damage.
B: Cyclone, Tempest, Ect: On Heavys and Id generally look for a way to supress there movement, Stun sux =/
2: Not really needed but meh if it works for your genie build cant hurt too much I suppose.
3: Good combo for Heavy or light melee is find a way so they cant move or catch you lol... Bust as many Cyclone, weild this that ect magic.. ^_^
B: Archers you will need to focus more on casting protective spells while nuking them, because you can't really stop them from hitting you.
4: Get Tangle, And Holy Path for sure. Anything ealse that helps too.
5: Secret to Cleric sucess is practice duels, get good gear, learn your protection spells, learn your control spells. :-)0 -
Speaking from experience, I've come to realize the following for clerics in the 80s and below:
1)1-shotting is not realistic
2)Kitting to 50% and then smashing through doesn't work because
barbs - have too much HP at 50% to 1-shot
bms - have anti-slow skill that also improves speed by 100% and allows them to stunlock quickly
ranged - you have the shortest range of all ranged classes so kiting doesn't work
3) plumeshell is your friend(especially when you have an MP charm).
4) getting the first shot gives you a huge advantage( pre-fight heal, plumeshell, spark)
5) sleep skill gives you a man-made first shot.
6) make sure you have full chi
7) Charms are full of win.
8) in group PvP, you are the #1 target because you can heal and rez people.and bro...fyi this isn't a story.

Plumeshot will always hit harder on arcanes than your metal skills. And about razor feathers, I personally don't like to use this skill on single targets, as the casting time isn't worth the damage output imo. Here's a chart of my damage
Lvl = 78 Magic Attack = 5156-5222 (buffed) Weapon Magic Attack = 735-748 (including 1 flawless sapphire) Plumeshot 5156+735+1379.6 = 7270.6 = 2908.24 min DPS 5222+748+1379.6 = 7349.6 = 2939.84 max DPS Razor Feathers 5156+1470+2258.2 = 8884.2 = 2221.05 min DPS 5222+1496+2258.2 = 8976.2 = 2244.05 max DPS 2908.24 - 2221.05 = 678.19 min DPS 2939.84 - 2244.05 = 695.79
And I've never heard of tangling mire (well, I've heard the name but that's it), but it sounds very useful.
2. Is it a good ideea to use thunderstorm on your genie (dex genie to increase the damage) to add to your firepower against close fighters?
Genies are very personal imo. Go with what sounds most appealing.
3. What is a good combo against heavies and light armors? Meaning, do you rather use tempest or just spark wield lightning. Is it enought to get the job done?
I like to do sleep>stack heals>debuffs (elemental seal+extreme poison+elemental weakness)>plume shell>spam metal skills (starting with cyclone for cooldown's sake)>freeze when too close (well, that's what I would do if I had the SP to level it)>moar metal skills>kite with cyclone and holy path>resleep>rinse and repeat
Of course, it never goes this far (rarely passes the first metal skill spam) and varies alot (alot meaning ALOT), but this is generally how it goes. Hit hard, and try not to get hit.
4. If you have a good genie build that is proper for a cleric in pvp (not duels) please share.
As I said earlier, genies are very personal. My setup's a dex-build zeal with Earthflame (Not amazing for clerics, but still good to have in case no one else can lure. Also, resale value would plummet if I took it off), Extreme Poison (always useful), Holy Path (GOD for clerics, particularly clerics with busy tanks), and Elemental Weakness (Awesome with a dex-build genie)
5. AND THIS IS NOT A FLAME THING JUST LOOKING FOR AN HONEST ANSWER: Are there clerics renowned for their pvp ability (that overcame their lable as "the support class")? Any secret about their succes?
Not as much as other classes (true fact: clerics were the smallest class on the PvP boards). Not because they're bad at PvP or anything, but because A: Lots of clerics are PvE support carebears, and B: PvPing on a cleric can be difficult. I find playing a cleric, both PvE and PvP, is a very instinctual experience due to our relatively small skillset.

Tnx everyone for the replies.b:pleased
One last question. Tangling mire seems good against robes. Anyone knows if tangling mire stacks with the cleric phisical debuff? The little icons for each spell are different, so can you stack them? Like in -55% phisical red. from a str genie + -30% cleric debuff)0 -

That is Razor Feathers not Wield Thunder or Tempest or even Great Cyclone with aid in Metal Mastery metal skills will do more damage and Razor Feather is not metal attack.
I don't see why you are comparing the two as both are physical.
For a Cleric no. one genie skill is holy path not thunderstorm.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -
If it uses a different icon it aught to stack.
Trying to 1-shot at 51% can work sometimes- but at high levels when most classes have good HP levels its more difficult (with barbs almost impossible x_O) so you will have to beat charm cooldown.
Clerics attacks are good in terms of damage but the DPS is poor. Good levels of crit/-chan can overcome DPS problems in pvp tho,--Retired--

try to kill a charmed barb with over 20 k hp is almost impossible alone you ll need some great strategy to do this.
Point at the DPS thingy, why put the dmg in dps when razor feather is like very long to cast and have a big cooldown?OO
You aren t a melee DD you don t hit sec/sec with such skills.0 -
Thunderstorm isnt worth it in my opinion for a cleric. DONT use sleep first as many clerics do in a fight, save it for when they spark or start channeling something big. Generally as far as executions, sleep/debuff followed by WT then cyclone is better than tempest if they are not charmed. Otherwise go for the 50%, tempest execution.0

People have differnet PvP strategies. It seems there are two following types.
1) hit to 50% and then spike damage
2) tick charms and keep hammering for 10 more secon
sleep does need to be used carefully cause of its long cooldown.
genies skills recommended
1.holy path ( soo useful)
2.some anti-stun skill( stun is your #1 enemy)
3.some thing to increase your damage. ( preferably complemtents your debuffs)
4.your choice( as long as your have the affinity for it)and bro...fyi this isn't a story.

That's my point, razor feathers shouldn't be used against single targets. The DPS bit was just for PvE.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
