O.O did something happen while I was asleep?

The Head Hunter's taken a coffee break and everybody's crying about it, while 99% of people on the Dreamweaver server who weren't in an instance got booted from the server and couldn't get into the game for the following twenty minutes.

    Fun stuff, eh?

May I use this server crash to suggest, dear GMs, you put our server status back on the main page, so we can see when our servers go offline.

It's on the client login screen. It's always been there, and it's still there, regardless of the website redesign.

And when the server crashes, on the client screen at any rate, it shows as still running.

Quite a few times now when a server goes down, my client's list doesn't update or show the same status as the website list did.

My apologises I do not quite work to your own expectations and standards, RedMenace, but I wouldn't suggest something if I didn't have a reason to. =)

(And no, I'm not seeing anything annoying. Perhaps you're just more irritable than I am. ^^ )

    Wow.

    I think we've actually had a mini-rollback.

I remember very specifically that I was collecting butterfly herbs for a quest.

I am now having to collect that quest again and will have to start farming again. That's kind of impressive.

What exactly happened? >.> I've just lost an easy ten minutes or so of gameplay that I knew I had done before the server went down.

well there goes the 10 scroll of tomes I got from 10 packs right before the server crashed.

Everyone who was not in an instance got booted off the server and that rollback is going to have some people rolling GM heads...for what they might have lost.

In the meanwhile during this crash inside FB99 I had a revelation...
I am a Demon Axe/Fist BM and proud of it. b:victory

Played for 4 months between 09.21.09-01.18.10

Then quit playing a game that I had grown to hate every day. b:bye

Okay just had a chat with Xarfox about this.

They are aware of the issue and are investigating the root cause right now so it never happens again. Additionally they are also looking into the missing Head Hunter and will post as soon as they find out what is going on - where he dissapeared to and will keep you all posted.

and ya i bet a Gm tested his new aoe, wiped out the Head Hunter. You'll probably fin his head blown so far from archo, probably at the bottom of the endless sea or something.

i'm curious what other things have gone on the fritz because of this, i mean, if one npc can miraculously vanish, what else could have happened?

    Liar >.>

Ok here's what I suspect happened and how we can fix it, cuz we all know the GMs will take too long.

Problem: The server crashed and the Head Hunter did not respawn.

Solution: Shut down the server and he might respawn. The only way I can think of to do that is to cause another crash, but I don't think the GMs would like that >.>

Patience pretty please, the main GMs will be posting something soon, both on the forums, and maybe in-game if a server restart is forthcoming.
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Does this have anything to do with the Public Quest NPC not there on HL? I know that he goes away during the night but he's usually back by now.

You and a buttload of other people.

I'd never seen WC so fill of "OH GAWD PLEASE DON'T FIX THE PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW WE'RE IN TT/FC/FB!!!!"

Which is ironic considering the amount of "FIX IT NOW WE WANT BH!!!" that was being thrown around.

Honestly, as a server we just can't make our minds up, can we? xD

I stopped doing BH after I hit 90, so the absence of the Head Hunter affects me in no way. Honestly though, you'd think they'd give a warning of some sort, so as to avoid people starting an instance only to find out they have one minute until the server goes down while they're doing a boss. Ugh... >.>

An hour's notice would have been appreciated.

I second that, some sort of time notice other then "coming down soon" and then taking it down 10 minutes later was way to much. To many people where doing TT runs and things that take a long time to recover to go and do that. Giving them at least time to get those finished with would have then been fine.
