Nix skill not ugrading?

I currently have a lvl 38 nix who knows pounce lvl 2 blessing of the pack lvl 5 claw lvl 5 and flesh ream lvl 2. Im currently trying to upgrade flesh ream but when I bought the upgrade scrolls none of them work. I brought up the teach skills pet menu hoping to find flesh ream lvl 3 but its not there. I'm a little confused. Does my spirit effect the ability for my nix to get the upgrade? cause currently my available spirit is 386,008. or does the nix to be a higher lvl? Help?b:surrender
