Where do you find soulgems?

So I've never imbued soulgems to my equipment because I've never found a need to. I know you have to go to the Blacksmith and choose the option "imbue soulgem" but I have never actually gone further than that. So...is it worth imbuing soulgems? Or is it a waste of money? And where do I find soulgems?

Also I have all these celestones collected in my safe from quests but I have not touched them...what is their purpose?

Those shabby/rough/blemished etc. shards you sometimes find in mob drops, or that you use for crazy stone? Those are soulgems. At low levels it's pretty much a waste of money to shard gear, since you outgrow it so fast.

Earth/human/heaven celestones and celestone fragments are for making into mirage celestones. Get a quest from the gem merchant to convert 25 fragments, or 3 each earth, human and heavens into 1 mirage.

Mirage celestones are used to refine gear (1 mirage for each attempt to increase refine level of armor or ornaments, or 2 mirages for each attempt for weapon), to get dice tickets in the cube of fate (1 mirage gets you 2 dice tickets) or to get a new genie from the watcher of the earth (3 mirages for a new genie, you get to choose type.)

Soulgems can do quite alot actually at higher lvl.

A few grade 7 gems (about 300k each) can increase your hp by a few hunderds (or some other points), or increase your weapon's dmg.

At lower lvls though it's not concidered worth it because you'll get rid of the gear so soon, but it never hurts to inbue that shappy citrine you just found in your armor for a tiny hp boost (or at low lvls you sometimes get shards from quests, those are nice to)

Celstones are best left untouched, as you'll need alot of them later on but won't use them so soon. Refining gear can do alot later in the game, but nothing early (again, cause you get rid of your gear so fast, and refining is really expencive)

Generally, at lower levels it is not worth imbuing because you outgrow the equipment relatively quickly. An exception is weapons. A cheap common or average sapphire (for magic weapons) or garnet (for physical weapons) can add a significant percentage to your damage at little cost. Most people do not start dabbling with sharding their armor until about their 50s or 60s. They do not do it in earnest until around the 80s and 90s.

The cost for higher grade shards increases very steeply. If you make the shards by combining them at the jewelcraftsman, probably the highest practical shard is beautiful (grade 6). Those cost a bit over 220k to manufacture.

However, several other ways to make shards considerably cheaper have been added to the game, usually related to events. Those have dropped the market price for beautiful shards down to around 100k, and flawless (grade 7) shards down to 200-300k. Flawless shards can be made with luck tokens, which you'll frequently see on cat shops for 15-18k on HT (done the old way, flawless costs nearly 1 million to manufacture). Grade 8 shards (immaculate) have been released as prizes in packs and I believe drop off Rebirth bosses. Grade 9 shards (perfect) drop off world bosses. Grade 11 (gems) were also released as prizes in packs.

Yeah, it can be worth it. It's a fairly easy way to give your character a boost in the HP/MP/defense/attack/evasion/accuracy categories (though I usually just shard for HP on all gear except the weapon, which I shard for attack.)

You can get level 1 soulgems (a.k.a. shards) from any merchant, and then combine them to make higher level soulgems at any jewelcraftsman. To make a level 4 gem, for example, takes 27 level 1 gems, which you can combine into 9 level 2's, those become 3 level 3's, which becomes 1 level 4 gem. If you have an item that is level 4, for example, then the highest level gem you can imbue will be a level 4.

The Celestones of Heaven/Earth/Human and Celestone Fragments can be combined into Mirage Celestones at any Gem Merchant if you have enough of them. Mirage Celestones can be used to refine gear, buy Dice Tickets for the Cube of Fate, or to manufacture genies. You will also need 10 of each Celestone of Heaven/Earth/Human for your level 89 cultivation quest when you choose to go demon or sage.
