better for pvp cleric or wizard?

title says it all i used to play wow as a mage and a priest just wondering which class i should choose

    Clerics you generally won't be able to kill BMs/WBs 1v1.

    Personally I think my mage can do way more damage in 1v1 situations than an EP ever would. Sure I can't heal myself or sleep the opponent, just destroy them in 6 seconds or oneshot them instead.

    Cleric is easier to PvP with, having more ways to keep themselves alive (Like plume barrier b:shocked ). Yes, I have a cleric.

    But I just find wizard to be more fun. Cycling through only 3-4 attack skills is boring when you can randomly fire off 7-8 with a wiz.

    in my opinion wizards hit way harder but clerics have a chance to beat a wizard 1 on 1 if they sleep you and you don't have a charm or Absolute Domain because their Plume Shot KILLZ QQ but they are just as squishy as we are :x so id say we are about equal ^^

    yup i agree completely with amour. i also have an 8x mage and i know a tonnn of 9x, 10x mages and tbh 1v1 mage vs. any class compared to cleric with=gear i think mage gonna overall do better bc mage are 100% offensive class and clerics arent.

    However, Wizard has proven itself time and time again to be very effective in dispatching BM's and barbs.

    One more of these predictable cop out answers thats not even true...

    No matter how well you play a your char, some classes themselves are naturally stronger than the others in pvp. And i said naturally as in how the developers created them and made their skills, its NOT only who is behind the computer. This is the case in pretty much every MMO out there.

    Every class can be really good of course if played right, but theres always a class that is just designed to be better for pvp, no matter how skilled pvper/gamer you are you will always have less benefits if you didn't pick the right class.

    In PW that class is wizard endgame. So wizards > cleric.

    It does require a 99+ wizard with amazing gear and refines, before that its a very average class - even slightly weak if you're not a very skilled player.

    Having said that, a vitality build cleric is probably one of the harder classes to fight for even the best geared 99+ wizard. And at lower lvls a cleric can just randomly press some hot keys and roll their face all over the keyboard and still kill most wizards.

    I love wiz for dmg, but if you want survivablity chose a cleric, or even a vit cleric would survive even better. I can't survive ganks well but i can do a lot of dmg.

    Wiz for more dmg but less control skills and easer to kill (unless you cs smartly)
    Cleric for more suvivablity (because of sleep, paralize, plume shield, heals) and easer to set up kills (sleep and then debuffs)

    I wouldn't trade my wiz for a cleric though, i love being a wiz, but a sleep longer then 4 secs would be really nice...

    Clerics you generally won't be able to kill BMs/WBs 1v1.
    Clerics use magical damage and the majority of BM's use heavy armor, with low magic resistance. They also have Plume shell which dramatically reduces the damage on HP and lets them use their extensive MP to eat up attacks instead.

    Give your genie Fortify to protect against a BM's stunlock and there's little they can do to damage you and plenty you can do to damage them. It might not be the quickest fight ever, but a Blademaster is going to feel it the whole time. Add to that a clerics self-buffs and healing abilities, and you might as well give the trophy to the cleric already.

    Thats not to say its *easy*, but for a cleric who knows her skills its far less of a challenge to defeat melee targets than it is to battle mages since cleric doesn't have a Plume Shell equivalent for spells.

    Good clerics at endgame (lvl99+) usually wont lose to wizards 1v1 unless he was caught off guard. But even though clerics can survive so much in 1v1 situations wizards are still a better pvp class cuz they do damage like no other, especially with ultimate skills; For that reason you will see wizards shine more in group pvp then in 1v1s.

    On topic, I think one v. one, clerics are better than mages for the most part, due to control skills and debuffs.

    That said, with a combination of force of will and sophorific whisper, I can most people in 1 v 1s.

    Clerics are more precise, like a scalpel, in pvp. But for crowd control, there's no one better than mages.

    Oh don't worry, we have plenty of white names that get pissed when they die, for some reason they don't understand being white means you're a target. But oh well, when they QQ it's pretty damn funny xD

    Clerics aren't too bad in group pking. I'll admit Wizards tend to be better, but Clerics are able to kill quite nicely and really annoy the other group. You just need to be smart and know how to use your skills. It's pretty funny to have two BM's after you then give up and try to kill your archer while you sit there stacking IH on themb:laugh

    ...Anyways i believe clerics can surpass wizards in pvp due to their ability to use hard hitting melee attacks as well (arrow and feathers). Along with attacks, clerics can buff themselves with more than a wizard can. And our ears are so cute XD

    Actually the buffs we use are available to a Wizard, while Stone Barrier is a class specific buff only available to Wizards. Wizards have more Pdef than Clerics because of this and their physical attack is much MUCH stronger than ours. I'm not saying Clerics can't be as good as a Wizard if not better, it's just the reasons you think we could be are completely wrong.

    Huh. On LC most people leave white names alone. (unless they're lv 30-35 in Hidden Orchid)

    Anyway. What're you talking about crowd control? If control = death, maybe. The only "crowd control" skill is mountain seize. Or maybe sage FoW if your enemies are like spooning each other.

    maybe sage bid (bucnh of dead ppl) or BT (bunch of dead arcane) or or facerolling (rapidly increasing kill count)

    Endgame wizards and clerics are a match. While PK with a cleric is much easier (BC of control skills), PK with Wizard is more dynamic, you need to kite, rely on your 3 (reliable) control skills (FoW, Sleep, MS stun).
    Other than being both magic classes, there is no similarity between wizard and cleric PK or gameplay. Cleric can sleep/heal himself and also buff/rebuff/purify. Wizard can only do dmg and blink out of range. Self healing is possible, but not practical (unless you have 2 sparks and you're really in trouble) What a lot of people fail to see is that actually wizard has a range advantage over cleric. Not much, but enough to play a card on it. Another thing that many are mistaking is the relevance of plume shell. That absorbs phys dmg, so it's basically useless against magic classes (can be effective if you see a BT coming, but any smart wiz will not just start channeling that without sleep/seal the cleric first)

    Endgame, a fight between a wizard and a cleric should be a never-ending charm ****. Yes, clerics have on their side the plume shot, but that's about it. And endgame, really, that doesn't really hurt much unless as a cleric you gamble a phys debuf. And if the cleric can't 1 shot the wizard right there (that should never happen endgame) he just got himself exposed to a undined BT while he's pdef debuffed. And a undined lvl 11 BT while the cleric is phys debuffed is something not many can survive it, even without a crit.
