Personally I have level 6 focused mind, but haven't found tidal protection useful at all, granted mine is level 1. /shrug
To me the added evasion has been useful, maybe more so since I am pure dex build. I'm interested as well to see what others think.0 -

25%avoid of attack>ur evasion from points
i think the status effect avoid usefull only in few case, like when u fight against stunner mobs, aoe boss, bm etc
focus mind more usefull i think, ok later u can max out both0 -

It doesn't add to your evasion. When it 'evades' an attack, it simply reduces it to one, it doesn't turn it into a miss. And this can apply to magic attacks as well.
Personally, I'd go with Focus mind the majority of the time, but if going against a BM, I'd use tidal protection to try and avoid being stun locked.0 -
Focused Mind > Tidal Protection IMO. Maze Steps can be used against BM's, this makes us immune to stuns and immobilize for 10 seconds. Combined with Focused Mind makes BM's manageble in duels, but neither will do much against a charmed BM in PVP. Force Stealth and run is the best thing to do then.0

but tidal protection has a i higher evade chance. i think is 50% at lvl 10. you guys should try it out before you dis on it. its nearly impossible to end up in stun lock whith it on. which makes a great means of escape0

Too bad they share the same cool down.
They removed the shared sool down for phychic buffs, why not for assasins?
I say we petition the GMs. b:victory0 -

Well in terms of PVE, which is what I meant,(sorry) I found Focused mind to be more useful. You may not evade the attack fully, but I still think taking 1 damage instead of however much I would normally take is a lot better. More so when I find that I can actually see a difference. Only reason I have yet to level up Tidal Protection is because as soon as I got it I tried to test it out and didn't find it worked for me. However maybe I should level it more.
Edit: "Focused Mind : Increases your chance to evade enemy skills by 25.0%[level10]"
Good time to ask this question as I still don't know how evasion works in this game.
Am I to assume that my own evasion gives me a chance to avoid an enemy skill and if I fail to evade that, [Focused Mind] will then kick in for the 25% chance to "evade"?
So, does my own evasion even relate to focused mind having a better chance to work?
Does [Focused Mind] only avoid special skills and not regular attacks?0 -

I was just thinking the same thing. Anybody know?Laurrixa - 64 Sin0 -
cmon people its not that hard of a concept to grasp. this is how they BOTH work.
you have evasion. when that evasion fails and you get hit THEN focus mind kicks in and gives you a 25% chance to only take 1 damage. BUT if that attack was a stun or a sleep or a poison or anything with a status effect at all it will still take effect to you. even though you only took 1 damage the skill did still technicly hit you. this is why smart people would use DOT when focus mind is up.
tidal protection works exactly the oposite. if another sin used head hunt on you, first is youre evasion. if it didnt miss then it will deal damage to you but it WONT stun you. yay!0
